Any of you do this, took mine out for first time today. didn't stay long. it was too hot on the slew. actually it was cleaner than I thought it would be.
Hmm, guess that's one way to find your lost tools. I've actually heard of that many years ago, still unaware of any practical application.
Fun Stuff!! There's that pipe wrench that fell off the deck Interested to see what turns up in the future too.
My kids are into it. It’s been pretty cool, we have found a razor scooter still in good condition, a brand new fishing rod also in working condition, knives, captains chairs, and 3 bikes beyond repair, a camera, also a lot of lures most still usable, and tons of random junk you scratch your head at. As a tip, make a grappling hook, it’s retrieved a lot of stuff the 800lb magnet couldn’t.
Ordered this 1700 pound magnet to use dragging the lake while I troll with electric motor. This thing is huge and heavy. I was going to keep it to throw out and pull in in slews but it's too heavy to throw for me.lol also bought a cheap pick and put magnets on each end to use in creeks when I use the detector in them.
I have tried a 900# magnet a few times and found a lot of stuff. You all's junque is so much cooler than mine. Also made a grapple hook that we have used to retrieve massive snarls of fishing line full of lures and squid jigs at local fishing piers.
Remember prowling through snake infested back waters like that when younger. We used to saw interesting looking Cypress knees (I see a few there) for Boy Scout crafts.
I've been thinking about trying it out. One question that I always get stuck on is what if you latch onto something you can't move (like a car) with one of those super magnets? Sent from my LML212VL using Tapatalk
I havn't been in a while, life has happened and not the fun part either. Even on the strong magnets you can still pull them off, just make sure you have a good rope on it. I looked at one on Amazon the other day and it's 3600 pounds. now that might be a bit too much. it's gotta be huge and you couldn't throw it out anyway unless you had Arnold arms.lol
Just looked on Amazon. They aren't as expensive as I figured. I might give this a try. I live a couple miles from a recreational lake, so it might be a fun little hobby. Sent from my LML212VL using Tapatalk
check local laws/ordinances some places around here ban such activities, there are even places you can not use a metal detector either
Make sure you put Loctite or super glue on the eyebolt and anything that has a bolt. it will come loose and you will lose it if you don't.
Definitely something I recently saw on youtube actually. I want to try it out! I'm gonna buy me a magnet and rope! I live in farm country and I'm sure there would be some neat farm related items found in small creeks and rivers here. I find old stuff on my property after the spring thaw too.
Just stay away from Reiden lake, or you might find mine. Whyyyyy?!?!? Why oh why did I rent that leaky old boat? Oh, woe is me!!!
