On the 01, the ash pan, if you decided to use it, is on the side. On the 02, the ash pan is on the front.

Lowe's price for the stove is $899.00. You can go on ebay and buy a 10% discount card and use it on the stove; I know because I did. Also, you can look at buying discount gift cards although to me the gift cards are not that great, you may save $8 or $10 buying one; you have to get high value ones to make it worth the trouble. However, the 10% discount are easy to get on ebay. I paid a bit more for mine, around $4.50, because I needed it instantly instead of sent through the post.

I actually got the stove at a 20% discount, which is why I decided to go into debt; it was a good deal and I need heat. Lowe's had the stove on offer at 10% and so I brought a 10% discount card; the reason I could not wait was that the sale was ending on the Sunday and it was a Saturday when I made the leap to go into debt on a stove.

Yes, I visited the Timber Ridge; the sale price there was the same as Lowe's; so of course I wanted to pass along that someone could save $89.90 more on the stove, that would help pay for shipping if they had to have the stove shipped to them. Not much in the way of helping someone else but some to help repay the kindness shown to me on here.

When it's all said and done, it's all about the heat. Besides, that fire is going to look just as good regardless of how fancy a stove it's inside.

As promised, here are some rough measurements with the firebrick in place. The width of the stove opening is 20 1/2 inches (since most on here are interested in the US units), and the height of the opening from the air wash (which takes up space in the opening) is 10 inches; excluding the air wash, the height of the opening is 12 1/2 inches. In the firebox, the width from firebrick to firebrick is ~23 1/4 inches and the depth (from front of stove to rear of stove) is 17 3/4 inches. I hope this can help in determining if the stove is suitable.

Lowes cards have been over 10% discounted on raise.com since Christmas.

I think you miss the point. Currently there are no gift cards on Raise that can be used online; however, there are some in store cards so let's examine them.
The top card listed shows a 17.7% discount; sounds great doesn't it? However, here is the amount you save with this 17.7% discount; the value on the card is $38.87; the price for the card is $32.00. Therefore you will save $38.87 - $32.00 = $6.87. Where is the value in that? The only way Raise is worth the effort is if you can find a high value card in the hundreds of dollars range with that same percentage. Most of the ones selling on Raise wants you to give them close to the face value of the card. The 10% card I am referring to is good for 10% off of the entire before tax purchase price (or at least I think that is before tax discount; which means your tax part will be lower as well).

Not trying to be rude, but you do miss the point.

You can use as many of the cards for a single purchase as you wish. I once used 9 cards bought at about 15% discount for one online purchase, total over $2000, saving over $300.

The top card right now is 12.6% off, and is valued at over $500. That stove can be bought with two of them. The discount is over 12% for the entire purchase, including the tax. That is a better deal than 10% on the "price" all day any day.

Not that it matters, both can be used. I was not suggesting it was an either / or. I certainly would use both, if I had a 10% card. Except, of course, that Lowe's forbids selling of their 10% discount cards (read the contract on the back of the card). Using the cards sold on raise.com is not forbidden by the merchant.

The "in store only" cards can be used online, I have done it several times, including that large purchase mentioned above, and the purchase of my 30-NC. Your mileage may vary.

    Greg

Edit: Sorry, a slight misstatement - I bought the 30-NC from Home Depot (using discounted cards bought from raise.com) not from Lowe's.

Is the "metal, black, podium looking" thing in the front center of the 2nd picture the "doghouse" or the "ash dump" on this model???

Pretty sure that's the ash dump. Doesn't look too big...not sure how easy it would be to use.

Yes, I know that but I just don't see buying 20 or 30 cards to try and get the discount; $6.00 here, $4.00 there. Personally, I think it is too much of a hassle for what it is worth.

I don't know what you mean by doghouse but the thing you see is the air inlet. The ash dump plug is cast iron and is behind that thing. I can take a photo looking down in the firebox later.

Hmm, but I did point out that it was attainable with 2 cards, which last I checked was not the same as 20 or 30.

As I write this I can hit $1000 with 3 cards at 11.8% discount. Buying that would take me about 10 minutes, and will save me $118.00 I would love to earn that as a wage. OK by me that you don't like it, less buyers means greater discounts, and I win.

I'm done, I have no skin in this game, maybe someone else will profit from the discussion.
