Heck, it was a warm one today.... Day lilies greening up, poking outa the ground already. Blades about 2-4 inches. Stupid climate change myth.
This is the time of year that everyone else posts pics of outside stuff and I see there is little to no snow in the pics. We've got easily 2-3 months to get where they are at now!! Now you're starting to talk about flowers sprouting...happening to anyone else?
I mentioned that and some thought that I was being unreasonable. I need to contact ESW again now that they sent a new glass and we have the same issue. Maybe the glass was designed too short or something.
We can get snows in April. Usually March is the last of the really cold weather here. However, I shouldn't put it off; I should contact ESW since I already have a notice in with them about the door. I just get sidetrack with other things. I will try to talk with them today.
Yes, daffs are up although none have bloom. If we get a really cold snap, it freezes the stalks and they will fall over. I looked next door and some type of flowering tree was in full bloom. I hope my red plum does not to that; I didn't get any plums last year because of a freeze after they bloomed. We have been having yo-yo weather here. I want it to stay cold until real spring arrives because of my fruit trees.
Yes; If you go back and look at the first photo where the gasket had fallen out, you can get an idea. I don't really keep a fire at night. I don't even have a fire now, it is 70F in my little office and 63.9F outside. 70F is a little bit coolish for me but I could put on a sweater and not worry about a fire for now.
The stove is cold, let me see if I can get some better photos; that cheap camera refuses to focus and there is no manual focus.
You could extend those tabs to at least flush with the door frame; they wouldn't be visible unless you were situated lower than that plane, looking upwards into the stove. Gain you at least an 1/8" of bite.
How much tab overlap is there at the bottom of the door? Would it be possible to shift the glass up a bit, then reclamp? Perhaps use a small metal shim under the bottom of the glass to help hold it up? Oh, the pics are gettin' better.
Someone mentioned earlier about putting the correct size piece of metal (rod, bar, tubing, nail, whatever you have around, or can get readily) under the glass to "center" it...
Yes, my thoughts as well. Still have not talked with ESW; maybe I will get an email off to them this evening.
There is the gasket that goes around the glass; installed with door off and flat. There really is not that much to split the difference. The tabs at the bottom were not catching much of the glass as well. I am guessing you think that the bottom gasket on the glass will compress over time and allow the glass to settle; that is certainly possible and may explain why the glass was not loose when I first got the stove; it is not loose now but certainly may become loose since there is not much holding it in place.
OK, just sent an email off to ESW asking if it is OK for me to replace the tabs with longer ones as far as the warranty is concern. Since it is late, it will probably be next week before I hear back.
Yup, pretty sure you know what your weather is. Not sure why you dropped me quoting your own quote stating last of the "cold weather". But if I have to be obvious about the joke I was making, that's not exactly "cold weather"
