I know why, it is my wit. :D

I know the Sheldon thing; never watch the show and the producers thought they had the right to use a poem without permission because everyone just worship at the feet of Hollywood and their celebrities and they can do no wrong. Therefore, I ignored the comment.

Here are the facts folks and they are echoed by other members on here. For some reason ESW decided to use some really pizz-poor (can I say that on here?) glass retainers for the Madison; just compare them to the ones that Highbeam posted of the 30-NC. Why I don't know and I will probably ask ESW why. The stove is excellently made otherwise; beautiful and it can heat like no one's business. On the 30-NC they have four strips of metal holding the glass in place top-bottom-sides. On the Madison I have four small tabs that are barely long enough to mate with the glass. If they had just removed the two side strips of metal they could have saved money on the production costs of the Madison without really compromising the integrity of the retainer system. What I don't get is the attitude that I shouldn't be concern or unhappy with the issue of the glass becoming loose. Oh, just make something to work, jury-rig it for crying out loud. For one, I don't like jury-rigging anything; that is not what my Dad taught me. Plus, this is a manufacturing defect that needs to be addressed by ESW; yes, they are a great company and I love the fact they are USA and employing Americans and I not sorry in the least for buying the stove, I love my stove and as I have said before, I will fight you if you try to take it away; however, when a problem comes up with a design, the right thing to do is to fix it. Maybe not in my particular stove but without question in any future produced stoves; not to do so is just irresponsible on their part since it is a safety issue. Now I have designed a replacement clip that I think is an improvement and will do the job but that is outside of the responsibility of ESW to address their design flaw and correct it. I also plan on sharing my design of the replacement clips with ESW that should not add much to the cost of production of the Madison.

Now, if you feel like :headbang: go ahead, doesn't affect me in the least. I really don't understand why anyone would get their undies in a bunch over this thread. I try to be lighthearted for the most part and really don't understand why some are upset here.

My Fahrenheit pellet furnace has 4 small tabs similar to your stove that holds the glass gasket and and glass in place. You don't need a whole lot to hold pressure on the whole piece of glass. Many stoves use this same exact system and has worked for years.

The problem may have come from all the hot/cold cycles as you don't keep a fire at night. So the expansion and contraction may have worked the little screws out.

My Fahrenheit pellet furnace has 4 small tabs holding the glass against the gasket.

I doubt it's an engineering error, rather than a 1 in 1,000 problem that you had with your unit. They have sold numerous (can't say if it's thousands or tens of thoudands) units and it wasn't like Mike had a definitive answer because it is so rare.

I'd retighten them now that it's had a couple hot/cold cycles. And if you're really worried about it? I'd remove one screw at a time and place some high strength Loc-Tite on them.

Looks like several stoves I've worked on. Many different wood stoves and pellet stoves use the same style (4 small tabs). Even pressure on 4 points with that gasket is enough to hold.
