My friend bought some but I dont know anything about them. Insights please? There a decent price at $4.78 a bag.
Make sure you try before you buy. Not good comments here-the one person that liked them one year said they were terrible the next time they bought- http://www.woodpelletreviews.com/maeder-brothers-wood-pellets.html
Tried a few last year. They seemed to be a short pellet. Just okay on heat. Think they are made in Weidman or Beal City? Gary
I would be interested in your friends results and what they think. I'm guessing they got these at meijer? It's a shame they filled every Michigan store with these. I have never had a clinker that could brake a glass window till these. If your friend has the same problems it might be best to return them? I'm sure they will take them back. I decided to take my stove apart and clean it after these and it was pretty dirty, I won't be putting anymore of these pellets in my stove.
Well he likes them in his Harmon. I may buy a bag to try because they are almost $1 bag cheaper than anything else but I'm not expecting much from them..... I went through this with a crap load of other brands and discovered only two brands my stove truly loves. ( ProPellets/Majic spark) and MWP by grayling NOT Michigan wood pellets of holland they are clinker hell and dirty with low low heat output!!!!!
Last half bag ill ever burn....... YA that bad half bag and I shut it off and cleaned it good. Wow what a mess!
Hmmm As you can se I bought a bunch of these. Last year the stove was new to us in February, as were pellets...so test drove a punch of pellets that were available locally. Our best choice was soft LG's @ $295-305 a ton PLUS $30 a ton delivery The dealer was more than 45 miles away, my transporting a ton at a time wasn't much better considering my time and expense. Others were just ok also at or around $265. Maeder's available from a local Agway, which is owned and operated by some very nice folks sell these at $245 . The three bags we ran last year were dirtier that everything else, but were ok on heat. They were run in cold weather. This year they seem to burn much dirtier, in on and off mode of the current weather pattern. My settings from last year caused fly ash to abound. I've got it dialed down and it is a bit more acceptable. The big difference, the measurable difference is the ash pan is filled in just under a week, and not with 24/7 heating. The soft LG's might need to have the ash pan emptied after a couple of weeks. At about $80 dollars less per ton. They are dirty, but I'm paying myself to clean each week and not the dealer with the HumVee parked outside.
That Osburn 7000 of yours is the bees knees of stoves (same as Enerzone Euromax). I have its smaller brother the Enerzone Eurostar (or Osburn 5000). These are phenomenal stoves with a great controller and self troubleshooting ability. I've burned good pellets, bad pellets, even horse bedding pellets. They all burned well because of the adjustments for the 2 blowers used for combustion. Sorry, never burned these pellets. So no comment there. Just seen his stove in his sig for the 1st time
I wanted the 5000 after all of my research, but the size of the hopper and the lack of alternative fuels available here, ultimately made the decision. I also like to walk into a cool house and crank the puppy up, and within minutes things are toasty. I've had quite the issue with running the Maeder's on the lowest setting. I just couldn't find a happy setting without causing soot from a lazy flame. It's been 15-17 degrees now so the stove is running as expected...just dirty. Cleaning today
I think the quality of our stove is much less than yours or Dex stoves... It does a great job though! It seems to LOVE pro pellets, manic spark, summer sets and really loves kirklands! Everything else has been ok or terrible mixed. We have never filled the ash up on one bag before Maeders pellets total garbage with almost no heat output compared to anything else we burned. This year we are trying to stick with pro pellets and magic spark for the most part. Maeders might be the last real experiment for this year as we only have pellets and wood for heat. I am in the process of installing a new high efficiency furnace so I'll wait to experiment to much more until after that's installed.
