In MI, we own to the center of the right of way. By law, we can even keep cars from parking in front of our place if we want to. I know someone who got into trouble taking wild asparagus from the ditchbank. Yes, it was in the right of way but that right of way is still owned by the property owner. Not too many years ago the county wanted to cut a couple of trees that are right next to the gravel part of the road. I told them no, I did not want them cut and that was the end of that one. Then another neighbor had the same thing happen when they wanted to widen a road and pave it. All of the other residents gave the okay to cut trees as needed but not one who owned 1/4 mile frontage. He did not want the trees cut so the road is still gravel and will not get paved. I think there were a few upset folks over that one but not me. Gravel keeps the traffic down and I fear if it gets paved then small pieces of land will be sold for new homes. We have enough homes in that mile.
Good catch, Halligan. Primo wood requires fast action, eh? I woulda loaded it right up in good clothes - that's OAK!
