True story, I own a 3120 to own one… That sucker is crazy heavy with a .404 36”… Trust me when I say it’s night and day between it and a 3/8 32” 395XP.

The older and more broken a person might get will definitely effect their saw choices.

There was a time when I would go out buck with 076 ,split by hand, load and and stack 5 cords on a Merc flat deck truck in one day! Now I'm happy to take the MSA 220 and MSA 300,limb , buck, split with hydraulics , load ,and stack 1/2 cord on the Toyota , and think that's enough and unload on another day !

We just bought 15 bricks of it to go in the Christmas baskets with all the other goodies we put together for family and friends at the Xmas parties.

A couple may come up missing between now and then... LOL

    Ho, Ho, Ho...

I'd love to see one at "max effort". Or even just "serious effort". I know, I know, open port clamshell motor. But the dang things just run so good.

Bet that was a pretty tree with all those limbs. Nasty job of working them up. Did you work up the limbs to get small pieces or do away with the limbs all together?

The pine was a pretty tree....the cedar, not so much.

I just whack & hack the limbs and they get burned in mountains.
I'm after sawlogs, so limbs are just a nuisance to be eliminated.

I've gotten some pretty good results with clamshell saws. In fact this was the first saw I actually ported. 46cc home Depot type Homelite. 18" .325. Full chisel Husqvarna chain. Thats 16" seasoned cherry. I gave it to my buddy. He's a lineman and uses it cutting power poles or downed trees.

I'm definitely kicking around spicing up a 250.

Just send it to someone with a mill and a lathe. Pick your squish and port away…

There was a time I wouldn't have had to send it anywhere! :tears: Sigh. Garage isn't really big enough for some fun machine tools these days.

Nice you'll be happy with it!
Quick easy reliable starting is the norm for those saws, that's something I really like about my cs400.

In an effort to try and influence you more :), one of Joe's latest vids (I have it to start at the dyno sheet break down):

He has a dyno and does before/after runs. On this saw, he got:

Most aren't over 40% but IME they are close with the right builder.

Do certain builders do better with certain brands of saws? I was just running the 201 again and thought of it. The 261 too.

If a specific builder is good at it, they can do any saw (clamshell typically excluded). A while back you had guys that were great w/ specific saws or brands but I believe that has diminished a little. For example, DozerDan was very well known for his 346 10 years ago(and beyond) but now if you run one of those against one (XS) Kevin ported, I bet there isn’t much difference. I think back then there wasn’t as much information/recipe sharing but that has changed.
Imagine your 261 having 70cc power..  The Stihl 462 is listed at 5.9hp and that 45cc 346 in the vid was at 5.49. :jaw: :dex::dex::dex:
