I'm pretty happy with my MS250 that I had picked up several years ago on sale for under $300. But buying new today might be a different story. I looked at the MS250 and they were up to $429 around here when my neighbor ended up getting the Red Max gx4350 for like $329.

The opened up muffler and the high jet tweak on my 250 did make a very nice bump in performance. I'm sure my neighbor will end up having me do some tweaks to his gx4350 once he gets a few tanks of fuel through it.

Dollar for dollar, you can't beat the Echos. The CS355-T would be a great saw for your needs. Around 350 US dollars..

Step it up the the Echo CS2511-T for real performance, and if you wanna get really serious, send it to huskihl to work his magic on it.

Stihl 201 rear handle. Lightweight and perfect for limbing and working in tangles. Love my rear handle 201 for limbing. A 194 rear handle would be a more cost effective compromise.

I've got one... very robust solid little saws....not as refined as the newer designs, but great basic machines.... I like em.

Our local Blaine's farm and fleet has one left on clearance still in the box. I almost bought it last week. Because I need 17 saws...

Yes, you need to buy one now because echo has replaced em with the 4010....the 400 is a classic that every saw nut needs to own.....

Nice purchase. I've had mine for over 3 years and can't complain about it, for what it is. The narrow kerf does well for limbing, and it'll handle 12-18" logs without issue if need be. The only thing I did to mine was mod the muffler, but it isn't necessary.
