Bob or Terry will give you a better deal than any dealer. I would definitely call and talk to one or both of them. The 2258 is the equivalent of the Husq 555 and the 2260 is the Husq 562xp (actually the 560xp/small mount bar).

The Husq 550xp and also the 545 are also solid saws. They can be had for just over $400.

Not a terrible saw, same as a Husqy 455. But like said there are much better models.

Thats crazy. Anyone who cuts firewood and is in need of a qualiy long term saw and can swing the weight should buy in a heartbeat. It would be awesome with a 20" but will pull and oil a 28".

I cut some 25" maple for the neighbor today and it handled like a dream.

They normally are. This was a "sale" a couple weeks ago.

I guess I should have taken a pic... :picard:

    I was looking at the 2252 & 53 but then I was looking at the 2255 & 58 .
I want 18 to 20" bar and I don't want a plastic case on it . My budget
Is 600.00 . This is hard then buying a new truck . Any help would be great .

I noticed today that my local TSC has a 2172 on the shelf. That is quite unusual for a big box retail store! They almost always have a 2166 kicking around too.

The 2255 is a Husqvarna 455 Rancher dressed in red.

You can't go wrong with a 2258 or a Husqvarna 555. (Same saw, cosmetic differences). I would recommend giving Bob or Terry a call and you might have a little money left in your budget. ;)

If you can go for an angled front handle (Husqy) you can find really good prices, delivered (all their prices include FedEx), on factory refurb Husqys at VMInnovations dot com. Three+ years back, a 455r cost me $327. Bud bought it this year for $200. Their inventory varies.

Dolmar PS-5105 is within your budget and is worth a look, too. Pro quality, farmer price.

Take a look too at Echo CS-590 and siblings. At $399 for the 590, WTH. If you decide on Husqy/Jonny see Bob or Terry.

The 2252 & 53 both have a metal case and are 50cc. They are almost identical, I'd get the 2252 for less money. 18" bar is recommended here.

The 2255 & 58 are completely different, the 2255 has a plastic case. The 2258 is a pro quality 60cc saw with metal case. 20" bar works well here.

I like the price of the 2252 & 53 and the metal case .
The 2255 is off the list .
The 2258 is nice saw . I would like to have the power of the 58 if the price tag isn't to much . I am going to call Terry or Bob on Monday and place a order and put the old homelite Xl 12 up on the shelf .

I have a 2252 and I normally have an 18" bar on it but have run a20" bar on it. If most of the wood you cut is <20" in diameter, the 2252 will do fine. If most of the wood is >20", the 2258 would be a better choice.

whats the Jred model of the 550xp? thats one saw I love and it doesn't need much and would make normal wood cutters chit their pants with an 18" but I've always ran 70cc saws all my life and have never liked 50cc class saws for firewood duties. the 2252/53 is an excellent saw also.. the 2258 is a larger saw so it all depends on what you actually need to cut on a regular basis and how much weight you want to lug around while doing it.

The 2253 is the red version of the 550xp. The 2252 is the 545. Virtually same saw with the xp turning a few more rpm at wot.
A 2252/545 with a muff mod would also make most wood cutters chit their paints. :D

I've had a muffler modded 550 for 2-3 years now. my brother just bought a 545 and we did a muffler mod. Mine has some port widening, but not real porting and it is hard to tell the difference between the two in 18" sized wood.

Yes, they have the same cylinder and make virtually the same power.
