Run it like you normally would. I like to heat mine up a time or 2 before sawing. Let it idle for a little then a couple throttle blips then shut it off, cool down and repeat next time a little longer. Then run it like you stole it, lol.

Thanks guys....while i have so much knowledge in this chat....if you turn the bar oil screw up to the max...is it normal to have oil coming out frm behind the bar cover? This is for my ms 311. Last weekend i somehow lost the bearing, washer and clip to hold my clutch drum on. I just put those new parts on and decided to turn my oil screw the whole way up. Now i have oil dripping out. Normal or should i be looking for another problem?

I know how I’ve done it on a Husky. Bearing anyway. I found the clutch and drum. No clip and washer of course on the external.

Make certain the oil hole in the bar is clear of debris into the channel. Very possibly plugged & the oil is dripping off the bar surface. Small hole up near the top of the bar. It will have one on both sides.
Hope you love the new saw!

If you're just revving it without cutting wood, it'll run out wherever. Wood chips prevent that from happening.

It’s not abnormal for a little oil to drip out, but if it is a significant amount I would suspect a problem and would check for the following:

    1. Oil passage in bar plugged up
    2. Oil hole in bar not properly lining up with oil channel in case
    3. Something preventing bar from being held tight against case when mounted.
