A low initial reference point makes any improvement seem worth while.

Hmmm, maybe I should try that philosophy out on my bride..."see honey, I never used to put the toilet seat down, but this month I did it twice!" :)

Maybe trees that'll fall over onto a fence?

I think it might have been Paul bunion that was talking about extremely old trees that also served as property line markers, wondering if they are similar.

Congratulations guys and gals. The first time you start getting wood piles like this, the feeling is tremendous and the benefits are even better. I remember several years ago when I first got on a forum. Had not much desire to stay but ended up staying. Later I found the wood shed part of the forum and met many of you there. When I started posting pictures and if memory serves me, we had something like 21 cord all split and stacked, people started looking and wondering. The 3 year plan came from this type of thing. For those who aren't yet on it, you will be amazed at the difference it makes. Good luck and have fun!

What I call a fence buster is one the birds planted by sitting on the top rail of the chain link. It grows so close to the fence that it will literally ruin the fence if you don't cut it down. In my case I let them go too long so now I need to deal with them after they are already pushing hard on the top fence rail. It does make for fun cutting challenges.

Hadn't thought of that Oldman. It's true though, those trees sometimes grow right into a fence too.

The volunteer trees at my previous home were from deer, and not along fence lines. Interesting!
