Unfortunately this is SOP for many in sales and marketing. Its up to the consumer to see through the BS.

There is a reason I am in service and operations, I give our customers the information that they dont want to hear at times without false promises.

Well daffonce you are certainly entitled to your opinion in this country ....But the fact of the matter is that 2 of the 3 suppliers that Okanagan were using are the same suppliers that NW happens to use as well. As most of you are aware there is still a fair amount of Okanagan product that has been sitting up at Upton for a bit now, and it has been released to Dana Container thru the courts, so it will now be available till it is sold off....about 1/2 of the Douglas Fir is already committed for ....so the dealers didn't care if it was NW or Okies...they just wanted the product since there seems to be quite a few customers wanting either...makes no difference to them.

As far as American Biomass taking over the Okanagan name and supplying the market with that brand going forward. I wish them all the luck in the world and since I was the one that actually built that brand in NE to start with, I hope it will survive and continue on. (Its like watching your child grow up and you want them to do well) Time will tell if it will. American Biomass Okies and the Okies that have been in the market for the last 7 seasons will probably not be the same material going forward, but of course I could be wrong...but I doubt it.

There are many choices for a consumer to make with regards to their wood pellets, and Northern Warmth are just one more brand available in certain markets for the consumer to consider. So far, they have gotten off to a great start, with all the pieces in place for the brand to be successful. Proper suppliers with great material to work with, enough rail cars, state of the art packaging plant and most important, proper funding to make sure the business can operate properly from day to day....with management that actually knows what they are doing.....so like I said...it should be enough to be a success...time will tell.

So I get the fact that not everyone here is a fan of Doug. Those of us that subscribed and participated on the "other" site are well aware of the history. To infer that lies and fibs are involved in his marketing is not fair. The information provided above and in a couple of other threads was clear, to me at least, that NW was using the same supplier as the former Okies. Same DF and same YP.
I am one of the most frugal people on the planet. I had the chance to grab some of the Okie Golds last year at a bargain price. It is a superior product. If the NW Purely Pine is the same raw material, I'll be looking to score some when I have room (which I certainly don't have now after last years hoarding).

You are a well informed pellet burner.
I would say 99% of Okanagan pellet burners had no idea that some of their pellets were not manufactured by Okanagan rather than supplied by another producer.
These advertisements make it seem that all that happened was a name change. But that isn't entirely accurate, is it??

NW Purely Pine and the Okanagan Gold wood pellet are one and the same....same pellet, same manufacture and bagged at the same plant...the only difference between the two pellets is the bag they come in.....

No that isn't all that happened....the company that owed the Okanagan brand went belly up on Sept 19th and right before that they sold off the rights to the name to American Biomass (www.woodpellets.com)...... IWPS formed and started to use some of the same suppliers that Okanagan was using to create a new brand called Northern Warmth.......Its been about 4 years since Okanagan actually bagged a pellet made by themselves...when they lost rail access from the KPR they started to use someone else's pellet under their brand...I'm referring to the Platinums....and because of demand created 2 other brands under the same label, Gold and Douglas Fir....but they didn't actually manufacture the pellets themself......this shouldn't that big a surprise to anyone in this industry or others. This happens in just about every business today....it's a very common practise, not just in the pellet industry.

When a customer scans your bar code on the bags, does it show what is actually in your bags? For example, we all know Tractor Supply doesn't make the pellets that are in their branded bags, but when you scan the code you can see who the supplier actually is.

At this point it doesn't matter what you put in the bag if it's 300 or more dollars right now it'll probably sit . I think what we're looking for is a good pellet between $ 4 - $ 5 and a Great pellet between 5 - $6 .;)

Coffee is a scam for sure Skeeter. About the only time I will drop 2 bucks for a cup is if I really need one and on the road.
