Longest bar ever used on a 261 Stihl

    lol not a problem, obviously its had at least a muffler job on the saw, mine sports a 18'' bar and it runs so smooth and cuts like a lazer beam. I really enjoy the saw. Just thought i'd ask is all and see what came up.

    Yes, he does muffler mods on all his saws. There is a video of him hacking up the 261 muffler.

    I believe Hotsaws 101 on YouTube has a video with a 261 that he built, 32 inch bar and it outperforms the saw in the video you posted by a ways.

    I’ve cut beech with a 24 on a ported 261. Not earth shatteringly fast at all but would do it in a pinch. 20 inch 3/8 is the upper limits for both the saw motor and oiler

    Mine came with a 20" and as far as i know the longest .325 bar you can get is 20"
    Ive buried the 20" in oak and it handled it, but i prefer a 16" bar.
