Like the set up! In my opinion the 308 is the all time classic long range cartridge.

I don't own anything but archery, but I have shot targets to 100yds with 8x scope. It's surprisingly accurate.

That said, my buddy just picked up a Savage 0.17 cal. That should be a hoot or long/medium distance shooting without breaking the bank.

For long distance targets, I shoot a Hoyt Alpha elite at about 50#, CBE sight with 4-8x lens, 36" front and 15" rear B stinger stabilizers, Limbdriver or Brite Site Pro Tuner rest , Easton ACG or Carbon One arrows and Scott Black hole 2-finger hinge release. For hunting, I shoot a Hoyt Spyder 34 at 60#, Limmdriver rest, Stokerized stabilizers and Easton ACC Pro hunters, Steel Force 14g single bevel broadhead and again, the Scott Black Hole 2-finger hinge. I got me some wicked bad target panic, so I can't shoot anything but a hinge or I will surely yank the shot.

What do you shoot for a target at long distance? Do you try for grouping or the one in each target dot?

100 yrd for a bow is way beyond normal practice and takes a steadier hand than being prone with 3 point of contact on the ground. Long range check, shooting check, precision check. Yes execution is different but skills required are quite similar.

I hear ya. Mike was talking archery then you posted that nice group with your .308. Just so's were all on the same page.
I shoot archery to 50 yrds, and rifle to 500 yrds, pistol to 100. When time allows of course. ;)

Pistol to a 100. What ya shooting there? That ain't easy either. Do you go for groups or steel plate at that distance. Have never tried to shoot that far with a pistol.

Ruger KMK 10 for kicks. Built a Ruger MK1 with a 14" Douglas barrel that nailed prairie dogs out to close to 200. .41 and .44 mags over the years, maybe a T/C or two, but nothing recent. Have a new SRH- .454 on the way, for Elk next year, just don't tell the wife. Shhhh......

Once I figure the hold over and wind correction. What's the BC of a .22? If there even is one. Just might have to try that.

Honestly never bother to check BC on a .22lr,. You know .22's can be ammo sensitive so I concentrated on reliability more than anything else. I've become a fan of the Aguila SSS. Shoots well in a number of .22s I have, even though common thought is that it shouldn't. I just like the penetration characteristics. Accuracy is a bonus.

Rifle? Various, .223 rem, wylde, on up to .338 WM. I've got a few .308's but stick to .300 WM or .338 WM for hunting, depends where I'll be.
