Maybe you should just have a more fortunate than most flat tire in that exact spot.
Know the feeling tho. No locust on my property and just learned about it myself. Lo and behold there’s a huge trunk on the side of a turnpike. Wanted to grab it so bad but I know the police in that area are just itching to bust anyone for anything at anytime. Given its position on the guardrails I would’ve had to back down the lane in opposing traffic. Decided to let it go instead of go to jail. :)

as tempting as it is, not worth IMO. Several years ago i pulled off the to the medium on the LEFT side of a 3 lane interstate to cut up a white oak log. State cop shows up. He politely asks how i was planning on getting out of there and then tells me to leave. Got a police escort. I drive by there often and still see the remnant log slowly decaying. This was over ten years ago!
As much as we love scoring wood, in this case i would say no.
I know, i know its locust and tough to drive by it, but in the end its "just a log" and there is more out there to be had.
Be safe and hoard on my friend!
