Wait! Wait a minute. Corn in the field already and it will be cut in July? What goes on over there across the pond? We're 3 months yet before corn gets planted.

I went over to Ireland a few years back thinking I would get some better ideas on how to raise sheep. However, due to the jet stream, even though they are at about the same latitude as us here in Maine, their weather is more like Florida, so I got nothing out of it. I am not going to be able to graze my sheep all year here! It was an interesting trip, with the highlight being at a pub with (4) dairy farmers and at the end of the night us all shrugging and saying, "Same, but different."

Sadly we know what it is like to have cut, split and piled firewood stolen from us. My Uncle actually caught the thieves in the act and chased them down the old dirt road. He got the plate number and called it in, but the police had to audacity to say, "You guys have enough land and plenty of wood, and these guys are poor." Well it did not mean Robinhood still was not a thief!! What the heck does that have to do with it?

My first year of teaching the band teacher had a coon dog show up at his house. He called all over, put it in the paper, had the dog over a month. Then couldn't get rid of it. I told him, "no one gives away a good coon dog". So had him advertise it for a $100.00 dollars, first day first caller, jewed him down to $75.00 and all were happy!!! It is all in the presentation. Thieves will work harder at stealing and get less than if they just got a normal job.

    More like Florida ?
Are you sure you weren't in Australia ?

Tempered by the Atlantic Ocean it barely ever gets above 22ºC nor below 0ºC
They barely know what snow is nor a sun tan.
You don't get a Celtic porcelain complexion in Florida.

Well I just meant with all their palm trees and such.

When I was there (Ireland), they got a wee bit of snow...the first time in 10 years and they had to put "grit down"...what we call sanding the road here. Of course when I was in Florida they did not think sanding the road was a big deal either, they used it all the time, until I explained to them that we used gravel as well to build up roads, but "sanding the roads" meant putting it down so we could drive on the ice.

Funny on how so many things that are the same, are called different things regionally and internationally.
