We have 3 Honda's and I wouldn't trade them for anything. As CBVT said, I've put a hurting on a few I've had in the "past", My Rancher I have now I Baby! My wife has a Recon and the Daughter has a Sportrax! The Daughters is a little quicker, we did some carb mods and a big gun exhaust, we tweeked the suspension a tad. It's nothing "pro" just gives is a little more punch. :)

You hadn't but I'm glad you posted it. I've seen a video but have not yet seen this in action up close and personal. I will though one of these days.

This one is no beauty queen like Armbru84 's machine. :binoculars:But, I guess I would be another member of the MTD gang. 25 ton & 6 hp B&S on this one. She actually became part of the arsenal as a hand me down from my grandfather. I had bought and installed a carburetor on her 8-ish years ago for him. When he decided to give up burning, I found it sitting in my driveway ine day. He wouldn't let me pay him anything for it. But, I ended up paying his share of our hunting lease the following year before he could get the checkbook from grandma. Lol!

He used it to heat our home and sell firewood for years, thenI got the bug and did the same. It’s probably somewhere around 35 years old. Many engines later it still does its job. I bought a super split 4 years ago to speed things up

Got a countyline 40 ton fast model about a month ago. I originally wanted either an inertia splitter, or a horizontal hydraulic splitter with log lift and adjustable wedge. After searching and pricing, I couldn't bring myself to drop that much money for only 3-4 cords a year. I looked at a few box store splitters and settled with the Countyline 40 ton. I didn't need a splitter that big, but it had several upgrades that i liked and the 9.5 second cycle time is really nice. The work rack/table is also very handy. Only used it 8 hours but so far i really like it. Actually, she has used it more than I .

I split some by hand, not a lot. Majority of the time a buddy and I halfed wood cutting duties...he had a splitter and I had plenty of saws. The last few years I've been battling a back injury and have bought wood by the ton, mill cutoffs.

I dont like vertical. I do like it better than picking up heavy rounds, but still dont like it. Didn't like it on my friend NT splitter either. I looked at building a Gorillabac...but thats still up in the air. My wife said vertical didnt bother her, so i said, "here you go then". A lot of our wood is hickory slabs and cull kiln dried hickory 6x6s from a local Ax handle company so hopefully vertical isn't needed much.

Yes it is nice. First use was splitting some pieces that got left too big by others that had been in the corner for 4-5 years. I would rather do vertical than nurse more disc and nerve damage...so if needed vertical it'll be :)

Nor would I like it doing it the way you are doing it. I would not last 5 minutes that way. But then, I wouldn't last much longer than that splitting horizontally. I too have a terrible back.
