I was so close to getting a 22 ton at TSC that you and I discussed and was going to stay in the 20+ ton range. If TSC would have given me the 10% military discount I may have bought it, they only give a military discount on Veterans day! :zip:o_O It was $1199.00 Then I found this thing! o_O:eek:, I had too... :tears::cool::whistle:

That is some BS. It's a nice splitter, my 25 ton has been given some serious forked, gnarly knotted oak and dealt with it accordingly.
I'm sure that 35 ton will take on anything you come across.

IMG_0312.JPG Took me and a buddy 40 minutes. His truck broke down so have to get it hauled to his house so we can refill it.

Dumb question time. I bought my Speeco close to 20 years ago and the engine is on the operator side. I have never had any issues with wood falling off and damaging the engine. Why do splitters today have their engines located where they can be damaged from falling wood?

TurboDiesel Tim, the splitter above has that addition you mentioned. Looks like a slip-on.

Just my opinion. Mostly I see this on combo horizontal/vertical splitters. This is to preserve the center of gravity of the beast and keeps the machine compact. If they made them extremely long they could put the engine away from harm. I really like how compact they are even though I designed mine differently.

Engineers also didn't want people to get burned or suck up exhaust, because some were to "stupid" to stay away from it! The splitter I just got, I'm "NOT" a big fan of where the engine is in relation to the splitting table and such. Brandon is right with balance and the towing factor is involved! I just looked at the factory table you can buy for mine, only one problem......., You can't put gas in the dam machine after it's installed!!! o_O I'm gonna come up with my own solution to protect the engine. I was out there running it in at different speeds with the break in procedures.

I don't know why they're doing that now maybe to get the noise farther from the operator .
Mine is on the operators side also And I like it like that ,,I can Adjust the throttle , start it up and Shut it off without walking around the other side

Not sure of his thought process, but it makes sense in my mind to have most of the weight above the tires.

Easier to manually move around, and should reduce bouncing around when towed.

Not sure what your splitter looks like but a trap door of some sort for the fuel fill maybe.
