Unfortunately, it' not as common as it's name implies.

I wonder which one left the toaster oven on. And how much beer was consumed prior to falling asleep on the couch. And what they looked like BEFORE they cleaned up for the TV interview. Sorry, just being snarky.

Who put the bag on the porch ?
A 6 year old kid that was trying to help, was told to put them in the can but didn't do as told ?
    We don't know.
Because we have only the author's version of the story which is far too often these days purposefully void of necessary information, far too often purposefully to support an agenda.
And then people scream fake news.

I'd like to reply LOL, but I have done this...

Yeah I know, stupid, but the ashes were several days old... And thankfully it was little more than a smoker.

metal bucket with a lid that gets set on the ground where it won't be tipped over. Much later, the ashes are spread on the garden area. Maine soil is usually too acid so the ashes help bring the ph up to neutral.

Agree, the reason I don't like cherry, unless it's free, even then

Unfortunately common sense isn't so common.

It's sad, really sad. But at the same time the scientist in me agrees with the Darwinism theory.

Also a paper bag is permeable, wind or whatever can just blow into that and all. Dennis, How many times have you told someone that coals can be alive for days and to dump it in a non flammable container?

This is really sad, but if anything is preventable it’s not really common sense anymore. I bring this up as not everyone is informed...you just wonder how it really happened. Either really new to burning(no prior experience) or just not thought through.

Sad any time, especially this time of year. Odd that up to this point they have not burned a hole in the bag before it ever made it outside. Another self correcting problem. I use a metal 5 gallon bucket, then outside and dumped on the snowed over dirt pile.

I’m just not sure how Darwin’s most “suitable” for the environment fits in here as an argument.... natural selection has its variations and nuances but its truly about survival in a population... Not because of intelligence. Nor is it about knowledge which is not genetically transmitted. I couldn’t genetically tell my daughter “don’t touch the damm stove when you’re 2” and “lotion isn’t edible”.

Sorry if I called anyone out, not meaning to but the interpretation here needed clarification.

Same here, all the ashes go into the garden. Most of the time we're burning everything is snowed covered, so directly dumped right on. No snow, we have a metal can with a lid that the ashes mellow for a few days on the pavement away from the house.

I love cherry, it smells so good when you burn it. I'll take it in the mix any time.
