    Thanks!

When she did a quick walk around, she didn't play around!

The saw operator is lumberjackchef. His daughter was the filmer. She was also a hard worker.

Well I have been thinking back on Hedgerow's charity cut & the break in the log bucking trailer received. I am trying to decide if it would be of any real benefit to build an actual log processor or if this trailer would be more practical to use. The pile of logs we processed were a very good example of what I normally work with. I have a feeling I would have problems feeding the log into the saw of an actual log processor which is what prompted me to build the trailer in the first place.

    What do you think?

Sure looks as tho you've nailed it with the perfect way to hold logs where a crew can make things happen. I've always thought processors were more about doing the work with just one person. And, I probably missed something…

How about a conveyor off the trailer that brings the rounds to a more open area (away from the saws) where more splitters can work?

There is room for 3 splitters which I believe is a good match for the trailer. While a conveyer would help to move the rounds way & potentially move the splitters away from the wood chips/dust, having a compact setup will fit a lot of the cutting areas we find us in better & not having to use a conveyor is one less thing to haul around.

I have a conveyor I can put at the end of a splitter to load trucks/trailers to use at home, but as I am already hauling a splitter & the log bucking trailer about 3 hours one way, I don't want to add pulling a conveyor & have to drive a the slower speed it would need.

Well the trailer will be getting a work out this weekend at the Mansfield Charity Cut. It is about an hour East of Springfield, Missouri.

If anyone would like to participate, let Hedgerow or I know & we will be happy to get you the details.

While I was unable to attend the FHC - GTG last weekend, I was able to make it to Waukee, IA for a charity cut. We were blessed to have a lift available to mount a camera set to time lapse with a picture taken every 0.5 seconds. So here is a clip of getting started with the log bucking trailer in use. There are 4 splitters around it. (Hydraulic similar to a Timber Wolf tw5, a HD SuperSplitter, a horizontal/vertical hydraulic, & a dedicated horizontal.) We cut & split over 22 cords.

In the upper left corner of the video is a stand-on Vermeer tracked loader with a hydraulic splitter which was used to split the rounds over 30" into smaller/manageable chunks. (I don't like to have logs bigger than 24-26" in diameter on the bucking trailer. They have a lot of momentum when cut loose falling & rolling down the incline.)

That was cool watching that sped up. I've never seen a dump body truck with sides that open... really good idea. Your trailer does an amazing job of keeping the logs at a perfect work height... while making plenty of rounds to keep the splitters busy.

I drool over that truck & dump bed. There is no way I can justify a truck like that. 5500 series. When loaded with firewood it didn't even touch the over loads.

    Yup, that's a nice truck.

22 cords of wood... that's a lotta splits. You guys are inspiring.

That is really cool, great set up. Looks like it went perfect. With all the right tools you can get a lot of work done fast. Loader, that trailer, splitters, and a dump trailer dump truck combo. WOWZA that is one sweet set up.

The face at the beginning of the video is of the host, Sam-tip who is on AS. At the start of the video, I am the one with the gray sweat shirt & the red Jonsered cap. I'll have to see if I am identifiable in one of the charity cut photos to post.

I can't complain. This spring there were 4 charity cuts & 1 GTG in a 2 month period, 2 of which were out of state.:D I think she has been fairly understanding.
