    Go and get yourself a cleaver. I bought mine just for taming rutabegas. It's actually the best tool for peeling/paring large round vegetables. I ended up in a lively debate with the lady at the knife manufacturing outlet. She thought white turnips were better than rutabegas--IN SOME OTHER DIMENSION MAYBE!-- As a result, I grabbed a turnip at the grocery store and accidentally dropped it. It bounced right back up into my hand!
    Cleavers are also handy on occasion for other tasks.
