I remember when these things came out. The Mother Earth News ran an article about them and many seemed to think they were great. I was considering buying one but then started seeing where many were getting injured while using them. Okay, I stuck with swinging the axe and maul. So, I've never used one nor seen one in action other than videos. I expect it is like so many other things where 99% of the problems are the operator.

the car hub (stickler) and bark busters are much more dangerous than a table one. Lot of the injuries were caused by having to lean over and or walking into the screw.

I have one for my dingo.
Needed a way to bust up all the big crotches I get in the wood dump.
    Works great on old wood.
Green wood it will catch once it's in so deep ,,,,,,, and flip your machine over . Yes ,,,, flip it over!
So ,,,,, yes ,,, they can be dangerous pending the situation and equipment powering it.

Have had the idea of mounting one of those to the back of the tractor. Back into big rounds and bust em up.
They are dangerous if used without thinking.
Lots of videos on the web of people using screw splitters along the lines of Screwloose’s rig. Mostly Eastern Europe. Design and use them right and they’re pretty safe. Do something stupid and it will let you know quickly.
