Saweeet! A dump definitely makes life easier, especially when you're selling.

I thought my dumptruck was bad at 4 mpg loaded, 6 mpg empty. It weighs about 17,000 empty and loaded around 40,000 (6 cords of wood).
427 and a twin stick trans... 5 speed front box, 4 speed rear. 0-60 time.... Bring a calendar! Probably takes 4-5 miles.

    [quote="MasterMech, post: 74857, member:

And while I am quite sentimental about the old girl, it's no daily diver. At 6-7 MPG, there's no way it could be my daily driver. My 2013 Silverado is only 75% of the truck the old 1 ton is but gets over twice the mileage, and is far safer/more comfortable.

We don't need to ditch the technology in modern vehicles but I do agree a return to that older way of thinking would do much of this country a whole ton of good.[/quote]

I have pared back a little on the selling anymore...
Bout 17-20 cord a year is all I can handle... Just ain't enough time in the day to do the 50 cord a year thing...
It was becoming a real drag...
I think I'll just hoard more...

    At 13,000 lbs...
    They don't even shake...
Some of those rounds are 100 lbs a piece...
    No bouncy...
Though could you imagine what one would do to a car at 60 mph???

I came back from my property a few weeks back. I take the tailgate off the 4x8 trailer cause its so much drag behind our suv . I strap everything down though. I had tubs and things on there and a junk window AC for my scrap pile. Well an hour into the trip I see a tub fly off the side of road and my stiff spill out. Luckily the bungey holding the top on stayed on till the last revolution so stuff did not go far. Stopped and realized the AC was GONE!!!!

We reluctantly turned around to try and find it. Told my wife if it was off on the side of the hwy sitting busted through someones fence were just keeping on!!! Luckily a few miles back it was in a pull off soot just sitting there all dented up and missing the plastic!!! Wheeew.

The strap broke.. looked weak and sun faded.

Kinda… sorta. Maine's roads are so bad the TV stations have contests to find the best (deepest, worst) pothole out there. This year, a lady sent a picture of one in front of her house she'd planted flowers in…

Back in my sign company days… spring was the time of year we'd launch ladders, shovels and jack post pads off the back of the crane truck… couple times a year. You try to avoid the humps and potholes, but they git ya once in a while…

The worst part of the potholes in Maine is the day you get heavy spring rains and they open up under a puddle - wham....there goes your alignment.
I can't recall the number of trucks parked on the road side with the axle shaft laying in the ditch 30yards behind it.

Ole Blue just woke up from winter yesterday, got a fresh battery(7yrs old and dropping to 4V on crank) a couple quarts of transmission fluid and fired right up.
It'll be getting some temporary side boards for the annual mulch run - holds ~3yds
