Had my Dad jump in my truck and pull my trailer across town for a few sticks of ash. I was on call in a tow truck.
About a month ago prepping for winter. Two 30"+ 15 foot beech some maple a bit of cherry and semi dry poplar. Needed a jack to get the trailer jack down!
Not firewood, just firewood storage... Got to go back in a couple weeks when they finish sorting thru their pile of empties
I've been thinking hard about going to totes for storage. No falling over stacks, and could move them when needed with the forks on the tractor. I've got to pull the trigger and start getting some. Looks great chainsawsoldier !
I think if you have a tractor with forks, having totes filled with wood is probably the best and easiest way to store and move firewood without all those extra handling steps. If I had a tractor with forks, I'd have pretty much all of my wood in totes.
Finished CSS this load today, it made about 1.5 cords just like I had figured. That's over 5000# of wood between the truck and the trailer, no wonder the ole Superduty was gettin a lil "squaty"
No, they have softer springs for a better ride. Maybe the new ones are not like that but I'm not sure when they put the softer springs on them. I know a guy with a 2010 and with a load on it it squats bad. The F-250 is now for someone that wants the Superduty look and or diesel but a good ride.
Mine is a 13 and only came with 3 springs in the back. I added a leaf at first but that didn't do much. Finally added air bags and now I wouldn't tow without them on any truck. The gvw and gcvw on my 13 250 is actually a lot higher than the old 7.3 I used to drive but the 99 didn't squat under a load like the new one. Air bags definitely fixed it though.
using fenders for strapping points like this? i made them myself, there 3/16 tread plate with angle around the whole outside and a 1/8 plate welded on the inside, you can drive a tank over these things! I knew I'd be stepping on them so I built it heavy
Speaking of super duty trucks, whoever took this picture must be driving an 11-16 ford sd. I know those hood lines..lol..
