I'm with you, almost all my wood is premium so defiantly will be the year of finding shoulder season varieties.

This is my fourth load this season. I'm finally getting to the point where I don't feel like someone beat me when I get back. The power-line tree service was kind enough to put down quite a few trees about 5 miles up the highway. It's so nice to have someone else fell and limb it all, though I wish they wouldn't drop it like pick-up-sticks intertwined with the slash. Some if it I have to choke and drag out with the truck. So far I've been able to find Doug Fir hidden amongst all the Ponderosa Pine and White Fir. Some great BTU's in a couple of years.

Splits on their way from storage/processing area to house woodshed ready for next winter. 2 more loads like this should get me close to full and ready. IMG_7792.jpeg

I missed my guess on cordage from those two trees, I though it'd be around 1/2, but looks like it's going to be just shy of 1 cord!

'Nother load from the mother lode.
Caltrans maintenance put down a large, dead Doug Fir right where our road hits the highway last week. Had to hustle out this morning hoping no one else got it.
Beautiful, 2 or 3 years standing dead, nice and dry with the bark coming off. Took less than 3 hours to buck and load, home before noon. There's at least another 2 loads if I can beat the 'termites" to it.

Maple limb and brush from across the street. Pine sitting at the corner. Needing shoulder season wood so this will help. 20250620_153027.jpg

Yessir, new customer one town over in Plymouth, about 2.5 miles from my house. He said he was going to burn it all in his fire pit too!

Tree fairy called yesterday. They assisted loading this small load. Times like this I wish the truck had the on-board scale feature. 20250628_084131.jpg 20250628_084139.jpg 20250628_084145.jpg

Another load today. A full cord of oak. There was a little more there, but the guy said he will cut it up and burn it himself.
