This will be the last load of this score. There’s still more to be had but it’s gonna have to wait, maybe next winter or beyond https://firewoodhoardersclub.com/forums/threads/%E2%80%A6-and-then-he-says-%E2%80%9Cdo-you-want-some-trees%E2%80%9D.45939/ IMG_1810.jpeg IMG_1811.jpeg IMG_1812.jpeg
The young man on top of the load is a neighbor up the road.
One evening last week he quietly knocked on my door. When I answered he said “ hello sir, are you the one doing the work over there?” (And pointed north of my house) I said “ do you mean with all the logs and dump truck across the road? Yes, that’s me.” He replied “ can I work with you?” I was a little bit surprised and speechless but I told him I would get ahold of him next time I was going to do something.
A day or two later I ran into him and his mom at the elementary school spring music concert, and told her I could use his help on Saturday.

The boy just finished 3rd grade and is 8 years old. He worked for me for 7 hours and did a great job. After we got back to my house we moved a small stack and a few other things to get ready to split right off the truck and into the stacks tomorrow ( Sunday)
I’m truly impressed by his courage to ask for a job and his work ethic

I wouldve been just as shocked to have that happen as well. Good on you for taking the boy on and having him work. :salute: Better than have him planted in front of a TV all day. Will he work again?

That’s great. A little faith in humanity restored with that story.

Great on you. I like seeing post like this. Go for his mother for letting him.

Worked again today and at quitting time asked when the next time would be. With no kids of my own to help with all the things I want/need to do, I wish I could afford to have him help more

Sandhillbilly seems like a respectable type of guy...well unless she's good looking, maybe!
    Single mom? :D

I'm still laughing at myself. Supposed to say good for her, not go for her. I can imagine most folks caught it pretty quickly, but it's still funny. Leave it to you Brad.

I figured out what you meant, but it was too funny to let go.

Sometimes you should see what I type before I edit, proof read and reread before posting. Been a victim myself. All in fun and good for a laugh.

I think this qualifies as loaded. I picked this up yesterday early evening. Front is cottonwood with a smattering of black walnut, then some mystery wood topped off with oak. I'm guessing this should stack out between 1/3-1/2 cord. For $50, I'm pretty pleased.[IMG]

Not a truck, but I moved 3 carry-all loads of noodled Sugar Maple blocks down to the sunny meadow on pallets to dry some more till I can get the splitter motivated enough to finish the job.

Fergy is a workhorse around here.

1959 Ferguson, built the year I was born. Great Uncle Harley bought it new. He only used it to pull grain wagons to the Equity in town. When he passed my Dad bought it. I was 12 years old at the time. I'm fairly certain that I'm the only person that has ever tuned it up and worked on it.

I've picked up several 3 point implements over the years, but the finish mower, carry-all, and the skidder get the most play time. Two of those implements I never knew anything about till I joined this forum. I've learned a lot here about a lot of stuff that makes my life easier and more fun...

:tip: to all the fine folks here.

Another load pretty much the same as the last one. About half of the previous load is gone or in the roadside stand. I'll get this split down and stacked by tomorrow.[IMG]

I make every effort not to casually cuss/curse/swear; but that kid is bad azz in my book. I couldn't think of a better adjective.
