Same here. I remember selling my first half cord of mulberry thinking I'll never see more, but time, persistence and some luck and I replaced it. How much have you sold so far? I have a quarter cord of MB that's dry enough and didn't sell. Sold three quarters as an exotic. Ill keep the ad up as i'd like that rack empty. Still have to get back for that MONSTER one, but this rain on Saturdays is really getting me POed.
I think I sold probably a third of a face cord of mulberry in that last load, which was mostly oak. As far as wood sales altogether, I moved about 4 cords this year. Yeah darn Saturdays and rain. How twisted was that MB from Massachusetts?
Actually split straight for the most part, but had some cool weird wavy grain that was mostly from healed over wounds and knots. Yeah those bigguns left there should generate some nice splits.
Thats one gnarly SOB! The limb wood is sweet though. I'd suggest bringing lots of extra chains if you're to noodle that trunk. Hope you get it Jason!
Have fun with that one... I stopped getting the BIG stuff when I started getting more volume. It lets me be more selective. I just made friends with a local tree service. He will make sure I don't have to scrounge. If anyone wants to help me orocess wood, just let me know. I am runninh out of room FAST.
Alder today. FS permit wood was everywhere the last few years. It requires a little searching this year. 1.6 miles from pavement still ain't bad.
Got a reply yesterday saying it’s fist come first serve. Looking at the add, multiple people said they could come tomorrow when the rain stops. Last thing I want to do is “fight” for wood or saw in a crowd. But I think those are the types of people that don’t have the saw to process big wood like that.
Yeah the average scrounger will take the Goldilocks stuff and leave the big carcass for us. How close to you is it? I've been to scores where other hoarders will share the bounty.
Learned that early on while scrounging. Usually I'll tackle the hardest parts first. Makes the easy stuff that much more rewarding. Definitely can't do that with roadside stuff!!
10 miles, about 15 minutes away. I think I’m making progress. I’m going to check it out today. I have some slow days at work this week and could get it all within a few days if it dries up enough. Currently have standing pool of water in my yard about 6’ round.
