Smoker wood 350 a cord

 

Cut it into small chunks and get some bbq customers i knew guys that would spend tons of money at home depot and walmart on bags of cherry chunks

I have a bunch of chunks from the score i pulled yesterday plus some from the prior score plus ill get a bunch from all the smalls after i cut them. I have a one cord nugget bin that will emptied in a couple months. Gonna divide it so one side will get cherry nuggets to be sold for smoking wood (i hope)

I currently have a half cord of cherry CSS June last year for sale. Mulberry too.

 

When I had a few nice apple grabs I was selling it for $35 a large wheelbarrow load. Did okay with sales but neighbor, who did have access to my wood for his stove mis-understood and used most of my apple.I never get cherry but do have mulberry but I burn that for personal heat.

 

oops that stinks. Only cut apple once three years ago. Not much. Got in the way with limited storage and one of my "casual burner" customers got it mixed with their load.

 

I had a good amount of apple a couple different species its crazy how apple trees can look completely dead and rotted and then you cut into them and it’s beautiful pinkish colored wood

 

Heartwood must be rot resistant?

 

Not really, took one down for a neighbor 5 years ago and it should have been taken care of years before that. Not much usable wood so just threw it in with my stacks, what little there was.

 

Went out to Bunny's and cut/split a couple of totes of elm. Had to dig through the pile as it was all pushed into a mess with plenty of metal, trash and rocks. No picture of that, but did grab a tote and threw some of the elm in it. On the way home I grabbed a small stash of ash that Edwin wanted me to grab. Going to end up with plenty of uglies and chunky monkeys out of it.

Load of beech, had to evacuate the scrounge early. Ground wasps right where I was cutting. They do not take too kindly to ported saws. Will have to put it on hold until its cold outside.

 

I hate when that happens... I've gotten hit by those things way too many times. I find their holes, wait till dusk, and pour some gas down their hole. But only if it's located in a dangerous place.

I just gassed a hole right next to one of the fenceposts at the man gate of our North pasture. I had taken some hay in and on the way out I saw a bunch flying around my boots. I didn't get stung, but our neighbor boy feeds in the morning and I don't want anyone getting hit by those things if it can be avoided.

 

I've had my share of run ins with them and now just gtfo. One instance I was stung 12 times, 7 on my stomach.

I use a pump sprayer and permethrin SFR and water at night for stinging insects. It is an oil based chemical, its cheap, effective, it breaks down in a couple weeks in direct sunlight. It is toxic to cats, so its not for areas with cats. Because it is oil based and coats the wasps wings, then they can't fly.

I have been using the same quart bottle for 7 years and its used by pest control companies.

Picked up a small European Hornbeam log today. Heavy sucker. It’s all I could do to load it with one hand.
