This was on private property near a busy road. So she stayed in the truck and only got out for pics. She played lots of ball at home while I unloaded, split, and stacked.

Not loaded into the truck yet. Daughter helped me cut and skid some oak logs off a family friends place over holiday weekend.

4 big ones and a bunch of firewood needing bucked up

The skidder for the day. Chain choker on this log. I've got 3 chain and 3 cable chokers and 2 log chains that the daughter and I used. We would set up 6 chokers together and then pull one or two logs at a time. I'd drive and the girl would hook and drop the twitch. She wouldn't say it but she was super excited because we got her a pair of men's carpenter pants to wear logging. She modified the waist a bit to fit better.

41553.jpeg half ton truck skidding a log out.

My grandfather, my kids great- grandfather gave me the truck when he got a new one. He put 30,000 miles on it over 10 years. I put 40,000 the first year. I change the fluids out on a severe use schedule since I got it.

I send pictures to my mom to show grandpa when my family is using it whenever we log, haul, skid....

Easiest load of wood yet. Neighbor had a dead standing oak in his back yard. Asked if I wanted it, which is a no brainer. He dropped it over the weekend, his son bucked it up, all I had to do is show up with my truck and splitter. Took about an hour with the neighbor and I running the splitter. Truck has a pretty good squat. Little more than 3/4 cord in there. Resized952023053195061955.jpg

Thanks. It's known as the Grandpa truck. I don't really plan on ever getting rid of it.

The kids want me to leave the the truck with great grandpa for a few months. When we first got the truck it smelled like him for 6 months. The kids found it soothing. It's odd how different smells are associated with different memories.

I'm sure it's partially his aftershave, skin so soft to treat cracked skin, a bit of saw dust from the woodworking shop and black dirt from the farm. Maybe a fabric softener that great grandma uses too.

You win the "Best Loaded Truck Pics" award for the month, maybe the year. That does not look like silver maple from here. Welcome to FHC...
