Pretty nasty here this morning, but I couldn’t see hanging around the house. Just had a couple hrs, so I took the splitting maul and a couple saws. 58729D93-1A99-4BC6-96AE-AED955AAA158.jpeg

Small load of black birch, paper birch, red oak, white oak and red maple. Facebook find. Been sitting out in log form. Since last summer. Neighbor finally listened to me after 8 years and got a stove. He is woefully short on wood, so this load got dumped in his driveway for free. I’ll make it up in hot dogs, hamburgers and beer when he grills out this summer..

Nice load and nice of you to hook your neighbor up too. How were the birch logs being out for almost a year?

Birch logs were fine. Could tell they had dried due to weight. Some of the bark was peeling off but no rot. The white oak was actually the worst as some kind of fungus had taken hold. I will make sure he separates the oak from the rest to either split it smaller or let it season longer.

Tried out the new to me 14' dump trailer. Family friend had 3 oaks blow down last week. 1 was standing dead and rotten so only 2 trees in the trailer. They plan to have 2-6 more pushed down by a dozer for some dirt work soon. And they have a burn pile to clean up the branches and trash. Easy, extremely wet red oak.

We cut logs and skidded with the truck yesterday. I bucked up the logs and kids loaded the trailer. Ramps help get the big ones in...and the property owner used their skid steer to put the 6 biggest pieces in. Kids were very happy that all you need is a button to unload.

Make some 2’ side boards for it for some real volume….

    you’ll definitely love it.

I'm looking into it. At least one more 10" wooden board high. I'm redecking the 16' flatbed so I might as well a couple more boards for this trailer.

7X14x4 gives you about 392 cu ft.

360 cu ft is 2 cord loose stack.
