According to Kelly Blue Book similar type rigs are going for about $8k or more around here. That’s with 175k, vinyl seats, no cruise & manual windows. And all the other stuff working. He told me $6k which I thought was astronomical but I guess he’s not too far out of line. I will have to see what the costs of repairs are for the 4wd , tow/haul & temp control. If I can work him down to about $5k I will happy. In fairness his FIL gave it to my brothers daughter but she didn’t like/want it so it became another farm truck for my brother & he is trying to thin the herd. I use his farm equipment when I need it so buying it is just repayment for machinery use.
This is the most filthy truck load of wood I have ever scrounged. Had to change to a semi chisel before cutting anything. Some elm, hickory and maple. There was some nasty stuff in the pile, there was just enough good wood to get a truck load. I will not be going back, not worth it with the cost of fuel.
A little bit of Mulberry this morning. I left the big pieces, they had some good sapwood but the heartwood was either already bad or going bad.
20+ year old photos my daughter dug up the other day. I sure do miss that ole truck. Blue was it's name, 300 6 cyl. 1/2 ton with 3 extra rear springs and 8" side boards. I worked at a mill that gave free firewood to employees. I sold a lot of my coworkers firewood and I'd bring a load of slab wood back home.
I was in hopes that the Mulberry that I had down, the last 2 pickup loads, would fill this cubicle but I need to find any tree to butcher to top it off. It would of been a bit fuller but some of the last load was ready to burn so it went in another pile.
Not really a load but a nice find while helping my brother work cattle this morning. I kept slipping & tripping on something under some grass so I got wizzed off & started digging out & pitching old creosote posts over the fence then found these Osage posts.
I got a variety load today There is some Ash, Cherry & Honey Locust in the trailer. The pickup has uglies from the trailer wood, plus some Mulberry & 4 old Osage posts I found.
I have 3 apple trees to cut down that over 50 years old and done after last year’s cicadas. Well over half of the leaves were gone by July this year. I don’t think they are going to make it. I sort of hate to cut them down because my grandma planted them from seed. They are huge at the base.
If there dieing your better off to get them before they start to get punky. I like apple but won't waist time on tiny orchard trees. The ones that are left alone can get pretty big and provide a lot of wood.
