They're nice to have. After doing all my wood hauling with a bronco (1/2 ton f150 suspension), the difference is night and day. The w250 was barely squatting and that load ended up being almost 3/4 cord
I don't think the axle in his K10 will handle enough load to make the log wagon ride of the 1 ton spring packs justifiable. clemsonfor What are you waiting for? There's a few thousand rusty C/K20's just waiting for you to rob the rear springs off them.
We have (had) 99' F250 , he sold it to his company. 7.3 engine? It's closing in on 400K miles and still running strong even with heavy loads. Replaced too many things over the years but its still reliable and pulls great despite the orig engine. PS, its a standard transmission if that matters. I heard the 7.3 is one of the best ford diesels, dear husband would jump on it if it was in our area, as they don't make them anymore. It has a giant fuel tank for long runs too.
I kept my K10 a six lug, but I upgraded the rear end to a 14 bolt semi-float out of a '94... I had to move the spring pads and shock mounts, but it's way bigger than a 10 or 12 bolt and I like the extra track width. It matches the front and still drives down the road just fine. I wish I had better pics... ... It's the same size rear end as the 80's era 3/4 tons.
I installed the firestone ride right bags on my super duty and highly recommend them. Even with the bed full of wood and a thousand pound tongue weight on the hitch it rides level or even a little above level.
1986 C20 3/4 Ton Chevy. This thing can handle some heavy loads. I just put these side boards on it so I can haul a cord when I stack it in. ^^^ This is a split cord stacked in there.
How is that load not tilting the back end down?? My azz end would be on the ground with that much wood in it!
It started out as a 3/4 ton F-250 but with the springs and air bags I don't know what it is now. Maybe a 1.58 ton. I just really wanted to use this bird..
[QUOTE="Drv4wood, post . I just really wanted to use this bird..[/QUOTE] Thats ok i like to use these whenever possible.
Very thick spring packs and overloads. It rides pretty rough when unloaded, but only sags a couple of inches when loaded up heavy like that. More bad pics...
