Last three trucks.. I drive the super duty. Traded the 150 for it. Still have the Navigator and my wife drives that. That 150 was less than 3 years old when I traded it and it had 90k. Had the super duty for almost a year now and it has 20k. I'm not sure where I accumulate all the miles..lol..
Back when I had the hyper commute I was putting 35k on my truck a year just going and coming from work. If I did not have a work truck that would add 17k to my miles a year.
Nice truck driven4wood. I have heard those new Ford diesels up close. I like how quiet they are. Hope they are as reliable as the older 7.3L were.
It's very very quiet. A guy I work with opened his 6.7 up but I kinda like it the way it is. I'm not a tree hugger by any means but the emissions on the truck work. You can cold start it and you won't smell it even if you're behind it. I've driven all the diesels - 7.3, 6.0, 5.9 Cummins, and the Duramax from inception till now - have never driven a stock diesel with the power the 6.7 has. I just hope it's reliable for a long time like the 7.3. I put enough miles on that I will find out..
Have heard that new 6.7 is STRONG!! But I like the smell of deisel and the exhaust. Old school diesel not the new computer controlled stuff As a forester I am in the woods with the stuff almost every day. The new tier 3 machines still don't smell like the old stuff
How is the mileage? All of the new diesels put out great power, it's the mileage we miss the most. If we're gonna build trucks that get 10-12 MPG, bring back the big block GAS engines and let's all save a whole bunch of money.
Lady I work with is into tractors and stuff. Her husband is a Cat repair guy and just retired. They have a f350 with the 6.7 to pull the camper or flatbed with 3 tractors to shows. Said it gets 19mpg empty riding round . loaded I think it was 14-15ish she said? They just went to Denton...I'll ask what it averaged if I think next week. They also have an older one in 7.3. Said the new one is way stronger.
That's what I'm hearing on them. And a cousin that works for a dealer said they have had 1 common sensor failure other than that trouble free so far. Unless you count the couple of def in the wrong tank causing fuel system failures a problem.
6.7 puts out good power from the few guys I know with them pulling campers across the country working. The mileage is a lot better than the 6.4 was.
My 12 2500HD has the 6.0L gas engine. I don't need a diesel. And that saves a whole bunch of money. I think the diesels are generally another 6-8,000 on the purchase of the truck. Then the cost at the pump is up there. I can't justify the extra cost of a diesel.
A typical tank is around 17.5. On long highway trips I've been bumping 20. Towing varies a lot but my last heavy towing tank was 13. It was up and down some big hills on state roads. At a 50 cent per gallon difference between diesel and gas, the improved economy has me breaking even at the pump with the 150 I traded on it.
A shot from yesterday. I guy from work has patch of woods with a lot of trees down from last year. He said I can go I and get what ever I want.
Spent yesterday afternoon at the ski hill helping to clear some of the cross country trails that had down trees. The cross country ski club demographic doesn't really have big saw skills so I jumped in to help. Lots of big aspen down, winch got a fair work out skidding saw logs off to the side. Found a couple nice chunks of maple that came home with me. All in all, a nice day to drive around in the woods and burn some saw gas. Only had to winch the truck up one hill. Only has a limited slip in the back end with an open front. Probably could have made it with some wheel spin but I didn't want to tear the trail up.
That can't be something he thought would go good? Why? Iean you knew it would destroy thebed and flat n it
