Had an hour on my way home so I took advantage of the overcast skies and cooler temps. Stopped by a new Ash score and bucked up about 8-10 rounds. Cracked em open for ease of loading. The wood was pretty light as the tree was standing dead before it was felled. There is more for me to go back to but access isn’t great. Will keep chipping away on days when I have an hour here and there.
EAB tracks... I hate those critters. The only upside is that we harvest a lot of it at our place for firewood, but there are so many dead ones that the neighbors and I haven't been able to keep up with them and some are starting to get too punky to harvest.
2011 Chevy silverado 1500 with some oak. The trucks definitely seen its fair share of moving wood around for me
Haven't posted much since I joined, been to busy at work. I have made a few scores and I got the lumber for free so this fall going to be new wood shed.
There were several of these steel wheeled wheel barrows around Telegraph Cove when I was a kid they were used for hauling firewood and groceries. There were also some bigger ones with a four foot square wooden box with wooden wheels used used for hauling sawdust to the houses, just about every house had a sawdust cook stove.
Load of spruce boughs from a tall one we did last week.. You can see blacksmith standing on top.... It was easier to haul them out than try and situate the chipper and trailer in that spot.
Cut and loaded some locust today. Only a few pieces still need cut, but due to them being buried and full of dirt, they can wait for another day. Way to hot and humid for this crap, but maybe 2/3 cord or a little more.
Got a Facebook marketplace score of hickory. Home owner thought they could cut and split it themselves.
Snagged another Red today. Had to drop the top into a deep ravine, so I couldn’t salvage most of the limbs.
