Northern Minnesota and propane was a bad combination last year! Welcome to the site... We're going to need a lot more pics in the future of all this hoarding activity.
Yup. Some of my coworkers got stuck with $7 a gallon fills in Jan/Feb/Mar. My wife and I prebought enough to get into mid Jan when the price usually sees a bit of a drop. We had just taken deleivery of the second 200 gallons when prices went nuts. Combined with the really cold weather that was inbound we saw the writing on the wall and got our wood stove installation finished. Bought a brand new 455 rancher and we hand hauled tamarack out of our back woods on tobbogans. We have a really small place and it is well insulated, so we only burned about a cord and a half. Even with buying the saw, the class A pipe and incidentals we still came out ahead of what a normal winter would be, let alone last seasons prices. We have 5 cord of pine tops bucked, stacked and ready for this winter. Was stuff from logging last winter, the skidders driving on it knocked off the bark and the sun pretty well seasoned it. Hopeing to save enough this winter to afford a power splitter next spring. I will be sure to get more pictures. I was actually on my way to go cut this morning when I got called into work. Had just finished grinding chains and jumped in the truck when my boss called. Unfortuantely, I am dependable and the kind of person who will get stuff done. Thus when ever my boss gets in a pickle I am usually the one he calls, that and he knows I won't say no. I will get a picture of the mess I am working on cleaning up. Lots of wood. Wish I had a loader.
Good to hear your a hard worker. Not too many people on here that arn't. Hard to be a lazy firewood hoarder actually. Hopefully this site will motivate you in some ways like it does to me...
Where is the "Really Like" button? Nice truck Elder! Dan I lived close to Bigfork, MN many years ago. How far away are you?

Just the ole 89 plow truck. Updating to 01 boss plow truck soon. Guy is on vacation. $$$$ burning a hole in my pockets. Reason for going into OT mode here, plus trying to get 3 high years for retirement. Need 1 more good one in the next 3 years.
I didnt see that last part. Rusty frame, Dex. The motor only has 40K original miles from a 88 IROC. Couldnt get tuned port to work so it has a elderbrock 4bbl and fuel pump put on motor like it use to be. Transfer case great with new u-joints on short shaft. Transmission was rebuilt but buggered front trans seal putting motor in, aka leaks slowly to about qt a month. About 30K on tranny after rebuild. Think 150K more or less on whole truck. Just the rear spring mount and frame rear area let me down and I aint a welder to fix such. Tires have less the 5K That pic was 2013 last summer. Was going to pull plow unit to sale too.
Why not find someone to plate that frame and do the same to the other side and put it back on the road.? Glad we dont have the salt issues down here. It just destroys yalls vehicles in no time!
My supervisor and friend is a hell of a welder and did my friends 91 truck. Had this truck 8 years or more dont own me nothing. It replaced my other 89 I bought new. Last winter I could hear something dragging coming up the drive from a push. Stopped, got out and reese hitch and bumper was dragging. Where reese bolted to frame back rusted into. Then the spring mount and area where spring bolt on frame. The front bed mount area and supports. Just more then I want to have done. Simple IMO. I want another newer truck to plow with.
Besides the salt. They use the liquid calcium pretreat stuff here and IMO 100% worse at rust and corrosion then salt ever was.
