It works okay with smaller loads. I have a couple sheets of thicker plywood to "funnel" splits around the wheel wells. I had a piece of sheet metal bent to cover my tailgate as mine is beat up as well and it will/has ripped the mesh. Ill post more pics MAF143
Load for today and the start of one for tomorrow. Had an earlier start, was out the door before 7, cutting by 8. Hard to motivate on my day off.
I have a plastic bedliner it slides over easily. Here are some pics Piece of OSB to funnel splits on a full load. It works okay if im careful when i toss in the splits. Of course im always in a hurry. Partial loads it works better if just dumping on the ground.
Delivered my first cord from yesterday, loaded a half cord and delivered, stacked that, then finished cutting/loading another cord then deliver and stacked. I sold this as a cord, was a full cord plus 1/6. Keeping people happy! The half was closer to 2/3 too!
Half cord load i delivered this morning. Had to meet the guy and transfer to his F350 dump truck. He didnt want to have me drop in his driveway which i thought odd. Easier for him to take splits off truck to stack. New customer so had to keep him happy. Mostly red oak with some white oak.
Got a call for an order so had time late this afternoon to load and deliver. Ive learned to jump when i get an order or lose it. This one 2/3 white oak 1/3 red. Five minutes from home.
I didnt check but i see all sellers around here offering fresh split oak as seasoned...I DOUBT IT. The white oak was CSS Fall 2018 and the red oak a bit later. They both went through two Summers. Maybe not FHC specs for MC but probably the driest oak you can by around here. The second load, the guy was an experienced burner and knows what "seasoned" wood looks like and commented on it. He showed me some splits from a prior load and it looked like fresh split ash. As i was pulling splits i would toss aside any bigger ones or heavy ones.
Wife loaded up the pickup today for a deliver tomorrow. Not bad while I was at work. Guy wants a 1/4 cord to get him by.
Helping my neighbor get a big white oak he was given home. He doesn't have a loader or big saw. He helps us out all the time. Close to a cord on this load. More to get to. This is the main trunk.
Haha, my frugal wife would be mad if we didn’t use up the leftovers 8-5, taking a break for lunch. it was just me, usually goes quicker with help. Still happy with progress. The landowner is happy to see more of the wood leave before fire season.
