    Can't imagine a lot that would be more fun! Trucks, dogs, snow and in the woods with chainsaws after firewood. Also; coffee and a snack on the way home (with the pooch paying special attention to the snacks) and last, a restful evening by the stove full of last years wood!

    Well, my "old" 2000 Chevy 3500 "Nellie" got retired. It's a shame really, only 26,000 miles on it and the frame is completely rotted. :(
    So I replaced it with my "new" truck. This is a 1989 GMC K3500. It was a wrecker when I bought it in late spring/early summer of 2019. I added a flatbed dump (still need to finish the headborad). "Clifford" has a 454, 4 speed and 4:10 gears. It has more torqure than I will ever use. My nephew is clearing some trees to make way for a pool. He doesn't burn wood so this was all free. First load of wood in it:

    Nice load. Looks like mostly cherry. I like the drone pic from above.

    Nellie only had 26,000 miles. That's insane. Enjoy Clifford.

    Yes. The guy who had it before me bought it brand new. He had a machine shop and parked it in the parking lot with a plow on the front and a salter on the back. The frame is shot from the cab back. The frame forward of the cab isn't that great either. The cab is mint. The interior is great (a little bit of dog hair...). The dump body was one I added. It's got some holes and patches but is still servicable. The pump and hydraulics work fine. I'm tempted to part it out and keep the engine and transmission and drop it into another square body truck.

    One of my boys bought a beater truck for his work truck. It’s a 02 Chevy 1500 with the 6.0 engine. We thought we would see how it handles a load of Ash. 42952707-37B6-4A78-BF88-EBB02777A4D5.jpeg 719EF0FD-9B05-411D-8414-582231CEE498.jpeg

    It’s a 1500. It’s an odd configuration. A heavy half ton, 8 lug wheels and the 6.0

    What's the GVWR on the door sticker? That thing is handling that load of wood way better than a 1/2 ton truck would...unless it has air bags, or springs have been modded.
    I used to sell trucks, and I have never seen a 8 lug 1/2 ton before (light duty 3/4 ton 8 bolt yes, but not a 8 bolt 1/2 ton) my guess is the title office FUBAR'd the title...seen that plenty of times...or could be someone swapped a 1/2 ton body onto a 3/4 chassis?
    If you need another one, my FIL has that same truck (2500 HD) for sale, but with an extended cab (same color and 6.0 too)

    That truck would be a 1500HD. Correct me if I'm wrong if anyone knows better, but my current understanding is they're similar to what ram did with 1500 mega cabs. 3/4 axles, heavier frame and big engine but a half ton transmission or something along those lines. Not really a great idea in my humble opinion;

    Either way there's a decent few of them out there from that time period, that one is missing her badges but I've seen a good few in person. 8 lug wheels and "1500HD" badges on the door

    I’ll get a pic of the door jam sticker. I looked at it when he bought it and it was in the range of higher 8K, low 9K I think.

    Chevy/GMC use to make a 1500HD model.
    Only crew cab/short beds just like his.
    Chevy also made regular 2500 that are not 2500HD.
