So I'm guessing you moved enough to get you through the winter? Did you leave enough for them to get through the winter? Everyone stays warm?
Yep, I've got enough for the winter. The new owners are not going to live there, they buy houses and rent them by the week. I offered to take all the wood and disassemble the woodshed cause I figured they wouldn't want it, but they said no, so I said I needed just enough for this winter.
Going out to bless an older woman and her veteran companion. Nice load of oak, all cut tiny to fit her tiny woodstove.
Another load from my pine/oak tangled mess area. Mostly smaller stuff this time. Looks like there will be one more load to get out of there, and I can call this done. Might do that later tomorrow, weather permitting. The original plan was to have this cleaned up this summer, but that didn’t happen. One good thing about doing this when it’s 33 outside is that there aren’t any bugs to deal with.
Always Brother! Picked up another cord a buddy had cut and split as a thank you for loaning my splitter. God is great! Give away a half cord and pick up a cord. Luke6:38 Brought all three boys along and had a good burger lunch too. Life is good.
Glad the boys went and saw what GOD will do. And showing them what the FHC spirit is about... Glad y'all had a great burger lunch too. How old are your boys?
Only one word, pathetic, I'm thinking the mill is selling firewood again, this stuff is from bins put out by a manufacturer in town, at least I found some 8' x 2" x 4"s to throw on the rack.
Born2Burn , I think it would have been $750 for what our guy considers a weekend rental, or 16 machine hours. We went over on hours, so we spent more. If you get one that size, you will have a lot of prep work and will want some good reliable help! Check out the thread in my signature about the processor. I gave a pretty good run down in there on it. Sometimes bigger isn't better, depending on equipment and help. We have done it twice and are getting better at keeping it running with limited down time. Big work & big firewood fun, all rolled into 1 package!
Awesome! Thank you for the reply and the info! We have 3 families that work together burning and splitting wood. Typically, we run 2-3 manual gas splitters all as a group and can have our yealy wood pile (for the future burning season of course) complete in 4-5 Saturdays of hard work. Fun, but some of the folks are getting older and I end up taking the back pain myself. Been getting alot of 6, 8, 10, and 12 ft log sections lately and there are plenty more! So much wood available right now that I couldn't CSS it if I wanted to. I have an L series kubota with forks that lifts log sections well and plenty of help. I'm gonna call the local Dyna dealer and talk to the folks about renting.
Born2Burn , Great! And glad to help. My L3901 also does most of the loading. We've found that the FIL's loader on his Deere is actually too large for most of the deck loading, due to visibility issues. It sounds like you have some wood that the machine should fly through. The conveyor is huge, but needed to load onto a dump truck or trailer. There would be a huge pile of splits that would quickly be in the way if you didn't. Hauling away saves having to teardown, tow, and set up multiple times. Best of luck! And please post pix.
It's been so long since I've had the truck loaded that I forgot to take a picture before taking off. Light load of ash here. Theres a house I drive by on my route to and from work that had empty stacks so I stopped by to give them some and see if they needed more.
Snagged a couple more loads today. Found a couple dead standing oaks, then got another (I hope the last) load out of the pine/oak tangled mess pile. The smaller stuff from the dead oaks went right into the wood racks. Hope to get the bigger stuff split later today or maybe tomorrow, not that any of it was very big anyway.
