Nice, that's some heavy stuff too. Never burned any, did cut some with sawmill, smelled like ashtray...
Nice and straight too. We have a couple big ones, they have been on our place at least 57 yrs. Good size when I was a little boy.
Found my replacement for the Dakota this weekend. F 350 7.3 diesel 180k miles and probably the cleanest near rust free truck iv seen in PA.
My wife and I came home from the dump and started another project. The old shed has been on the property for almost 40 years. Dad moved it from our old house when we built the place I live at now. It had been patched up and propped up and the sides were splitting out. It was time to get rid of it. One more load ready to go to the dump I am hoping to actually post pics of a trailer loaded with firewood soon. All the other projects are pushing their way to the front of the line.
The wood from the shed was dry and would burn great, it also has 40 years worth of nails from hanging stuff up on the walls and overhead. I have become a fan of the dump.
Good point about the nails, I have shoveled out many nails and staples out of the fire pit over the years. I usually go to the dump once or twice a year for one reason or another.
I have a large magnet off an old speaker that I use for cleaning up nails. But it is technically illegal to burn anything except brush in Ohio (or at least in our county). I'm told if they catch you burning anything else it is a $500 fine. No boards, no construction debris of any kind, not even cardboard. Any official driving by that sees flames or smoke can come on your property to investigate and charge you. Twigs, leaves, and sticks only. I build "nature piles" on our property now because I'm even afraid to burn that stuff... If I forget to call the county fire permission gestopo and someone driving by calls 911 the local fire department can charge me for a truck roll. I found all this out a few years back when I remembered to call the 800 burn number right after I had just thrown an old couch on the old shed fire I had knocked down... The first thing the lady asked me was "whatcha burnin"? Boy did I get an earful. I was waiting on someone to show up to cuff me, but she never dispatched anyone to haul me away. The magnet is getting much less use these days...
I burn everything...not sure what the rules are in Eaton Township, but I will continue to take chances. If they come, I will pull out some hot dogs and tell them the fire is for cooking. Lol
$27.00 a ton.. I'm curious if that's a good deal or high in your opinion? I have a huge concrete foundation that I would like to bring to the dump, but I'm told it's $400 plus per truck load charge at the dump (20 tons). I have an estimate of 8 - 10 truck loads. The excavation guys say did a big hole and bury it.. Sorry for the thread high jack...
