    No.. It's gotten to be big dollars.. Used to be, I could buy a $400.00 feeder calf and finish them to 1200 pounds or so for 3-400 bucks, netting a carcass weight of ~ 800lbs + processing cost of $300 or so...
    Now it's a different ball game...
    Same 500lb calf costs $1000.00+ Feed for calf to finish is around $1100.00 +$400 kill and process fee...
    People can't just toss a 2500 dollar bill around right now...

    I was saying they could sell him some...that was my whole point in that. I know the stuff ain't cheap nothing g is anymore.

    So much advance planning involved, they would have to basically raise a heifer/steer for me. Lots of upfront costs and yes, I would have a hard time convincing my CFO to fork up $2500 out of the grocery budget.....

    Missing my point???? It was a farm incidental meat from the operation that was split among owner/employees.

    I guess I was thinking you could call and say next time you slaughter and can afford some to spare call me...id like to have 30 lbs or something and I will pay you for it.

    I did not intend on you buying a whole cow or one yrs worth of meat or them giving it to you or any of these other scenarios.

    I get what you're saying but unfortunately buying wholesale farm beef generally doesn't work like that. Everybody committed to taking a half or a whole beef ahead of time so animals were allocated and the rest were sold live.

    I'll get this thread back on track . . . sort of....

    Not a truck, but it is loaded (OP didn't specifically say it had to be loaded with firewood!). Second photo is after unloading into the basement. Groceries aren't the only way to buy in bulk and save!!! StihlHaul1.JPG StihlHaul2.JPG

    The stack is 15 x MS290 and 4 x MS261. A friend of mine owned a shop and was getting ready to sell. He had a ton of saws in inventory and wanted to reduce it to make things easier for the new owner/purchaser. He offered them to me at a great price, so I bought the ones you see in the photo and flipped them.

    Not all 090s. It's actually two 070s, an 090, and an 090G.

    All the bars & chains went with the saws. The only thing I have left from the lot is the last MS290 with a 20" b&c if you're interested. People seem to love the "Farm Boss" bars which they stopped making late in the 290 production. I was going to hand on to this one for a year or two and then ebay it figuring it might fetch just a little more.

    I feel your pain. I am starting to fill the wood sheds for next season. This is the boring part. I like it when I can play with chainsaws but just moving it around isn't fun.

    He loaded me with a big tractor or there would have been no way. I started splitting when I got home but ran out of steam about half way through. Tomorrow is another day fortunately.
