Mushroom hunting. Never found any before today. My first ones Biggest of the day (Miss July got this one) The haul/hoard.
After working hard yesterday, time to relax and enjoy the LORD'S DAY. Built a small ramp so we could get the pellet grill out easier, then we loaded it up. Wings, chops, onions and apple sausage...yummy...apple and cherry flavors smoke. Eating for the GTG...
TurboDiesel Tim, yesterday while splitting my oak hoard, Andrew and I for the first time got the vomit smell. If passers by could have seen us sniffing wood, they would have thought we lost it. 75-80% of it smelled fantastic, with an almost apple wood like sweetness. But there were a few chunks that were not nice. So I finally get all the talk of the nasty smell.
Oh yea. Julie really liked it the first year we burned. I bought a couple cords of red oak and hauled it home. It had been css for 2 years but the chunks were huge! I had to cut a 5-6" off then split them into 3-4 splits then I'd throw them in a bin in the basement to dry off. Julie came home after work and asked what smelled so bad in the house. She even took the garbage out...
Anyone know what these are? Growing in chip piles next door. Tom's wears size 12 shoes. That one is as big as a five gallon bucket The stem is probably 10-11' on the right. 6"was buried. I'm not eating anything other than morels....or store bought.
lol 2 of the neighbors stopped by about the same time yesterday, we were checking out the shrooms. One asked if the (pheasant back) mushroom made you see weird things. I laughed and told the other neighbor that those were the kind that made you kill the neighbors and eat them...lol Other neighbor said "you better bring a gun"...lol
