Thanks Pete, it was open to use by anyone there. Both of them, the 400ex and the Rubicon.

That's actually a pump drill, same concept as a bow drill, it was invented by the Iroquois if memory serves me correct.

I have the bow drill stuff too, but didn't take it along. We started our Tipi fire with the pump drill.

What a great ending to a great day yesterday.

And our accommodations for those cold nights......this puts to rest the question "do you REALLY build a fire in the tipi?" Yes, and it stays quite comfortable in there too!

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this GTG...especially Dennis and Judy and TurboDiesel /Mrs TD, a lot of work and planning went into making this all come together...nothing like having 30 people over for the weekend! Big hugs ;) to all that provided the food and the food prep too...not a bad bite the whole time (course, I'm not known for my pickiness ) and just an FYI for anybody that attends a future GTG where walt brings his apple pie...you DO want a piece! Amazing!
Had a great time watching Scotty Overkill take down those 3 (well, really 2) Oaks and then getting to watch that old Stihl howl at the moon again...what a beast! You get all those saw chips outta your boot yet buddy? :saw:
It will be interesting to hear how many cords come from those 2 trees (oh, and that little "sacrificial" Ash that was in the way)
DexterDay and I had a smooth trip home...Google maps seemed to be on a little better behavior for the trip home and we didn't even have to travel across any private property this time!  Hope you got you yard cut Dex...I didn't get my yar...'er hay mowed today...GOTTA do it tomorrow though!
Thoroughly enjoyed meeting and working with everybody! :handshake:
So how's that new Kubota seat cover sit Dennis? :D

Y'all, that brenndatomu is like 12' tall, so he eats the equivalent portions that two 6' tall guys would eat!:salute:

Guess ya didn't get any of my misses PB Pie? We'll have to sequester one for you, next time...

  Yup, I always say, I'm kinda like a big block V8, got a lot of torque, but the fuel stops are killers :jaw:
Yah, I did get some PB pie, had to restrain myself from eating the last one (last pie, not piece  :D)

Duh of course it's not a a bow drill. Sorry about that. How long to start a fire using the pump drill?

It's more like if he can stay quiet and not blow the little hot coal away he can start it in under a minute

Ha!  Yeah that thing is no joke loud! (and I have a hearing test on Wednesday)
You know its loud when the peeps up at the camp (which is clear on the opposite side of the farm) say it sounded loud...what a monster. Pretty cool to see that old stuff run...and to see that not all the old saws are just all torque and "low" HP.
