I got a bunch of stuff to do this weekend, and I wanted to squeeze this in. Little more cherry for my holz - hopefully enough to finish. I picked this one out earlier this week. Crooked little cherry growing right at the base of a really nice 20" black locust. Took off from work an hour early and got it out of the woods before dark. 45 mins later it was all split.
The holz looked great last time I saw it. Can't wait to see the finished product! When you're done there, you can come build one for me. As always, nice work and be safe Shawn!
That's what I hate about losing daylight savings time I can't get in the woods after work. Dark when I leave dark when I get home. That's a nice after work score, got some cherry burning in the stove right now good stuff and it smells great.
The base is 10' diameter, 4' high - 314.159 cuft -roughly 2.5 cords black locust. The roof should end up 3.75' high - about 2/3 cord black cherry on top. Remains to be seen about top cover. It's going to sit for a couple years. Hopefully the angle of the splits on the roof will help it shed water pretty good.
