Cut a few trees up yesterday, 2 EAB Ash and 2 DED Elm. First load was the EAB Ash... 2nd load some DED Elm... Both of these loads are ready to burn as soon as I get them and There is still about half a load left from one of the Ash trees. It was around 23-25% MC from where I quit gathering to the stump. I will come back for it after taking care of the good to go stuff. I cant get the pic to upload of the rest. I'll try again later.
I love the barkless dead standing elm. I'm planning on dropping the big boy dead standing elm at my woodlot while I'm off on Christmas/ new year's time. Nice haul! I miss "old yeller" the 84 1ton Chevy and Whitey the 3/4 ton 94 Chevy for hauling wood. Old yeller would laugh if you missed the b we d and hot the side with a round. Whitey would say ouch though if you did the same. Lol
Marvin That picture has me thinking I need to make a visit to Pennsylvania soon. That location makes a beautiful bucolic setting for the backdrop of your cargo. Both loads are home run scores! I hope that elm splits easy for you.
Me too. It's gotten me through many a winter when I would cut and split as I ran out. Unfortunately I'm kinda back to that program since all the stuff I had stacked this summer didn't dry as well as I thought it would. Luckily there's enough elm and ash like this around I'll be able to get ahead on it alone. I guess I shoulda started that way. I cant wait to get several years ahead
I will have to get up on the next hill over from my house and take a pic to post here. I have a pretty nice view where I'm at. The elm split pretty nice with the good old isocore. There were 2 or 3 pieces I'll have to use the splitter for.

Yeah I have an Isocore too. I like that its able to keep a razor sharp edge and sometimes with stringy wood you simply turn the splits and chop thru the fibers. Looking forward to the pic!
That's my cousin and her husband's home and his workshop a below it. The barns on the left side of the truck is my brothers farm. In the upper left corner of the second pic is the next hill over from my house that I will take a pic from sometime.

If I remember correctly you mentioned something about a mini GTG at the Overkill estate.....is this potentially still on the table after the holidays??
It is possible, I'll see what we can muster up. I have a few milling logs here, lots of stuff to split, and might have a few standing dead to fell over on the farm next door..... We just might be able to whip up a small party!!
