I'll have to take a pic of the other method of bending track when I'm at work. The modified splitter is way better.

Here's the old beast I use. ~40 yr old didier. It's my cutting buddy's.

    IMG_20150525_112701030.jpg

It's low, and slow, and somehow gets the hydro's to flow.

At some point, hopefully this Fall, the old 5 hp Briggs motor will be replaced by a newer slightly bigger Briggs, that's quieter, and a bigger pump, tank, and a bit taller.

It's so short, we lift it up with wood blocks to its better on our backs.

I scored this one just before the price of splitters went through the roof. Bought it used for 800 which included a very nice pair of folding aluminum truck ramps( for motorcycle, snow blower etc).

Cookie cutter holder, eh? It probably doesn't split that way very well though ;)

Did you buy that one in Ohio? I know they made a million 34 ton units. But he sold his for $800 around 5 or 6 years ago?

I just got into Wood burning and passed on it. About a year later, I spent $1,200 on my 21 ton MTD!! :(

I bought if from an old feller who didn't use it very much. He was just across the Maryland line near Emmitsburg. I think it was '09 or so.

It seems that a lot of people have acquired nice used splitters for a good price:axe:

Ok, here we go again! So it's been sitting for a year and I still haven't finished it… :emb: Started it back in 2014 :picard: so today, even though I have a million and 89 things to do I looked at my splitter and said, "it's on"! I'm finally gonna get'r done, I hope…. So I took it all apart and wire brushed the $#!T out of it and primed it today, a 4 hour task. The weather was a bit on the hot side, "for me" but I got it cleaned and primed up. Once I get it painted and put back together, I'm gonna run it up to our local hydraulics shop and have them fit the hoses. Yes, I could buy them but I know these guys and I'll get some good stuff on there for lines! I got plenty to split so I figured I got to get'r done!

Ironically, I had about 8 cans of "safety" orange sitting around so it just happens to be the color of choice! ;) I too like the orange, I'm glad I didn't have "safety" Pink...

Your daughter probably wouldn't mind it pink:)
While you're at it, maybe you could paint some lines across the beam for your standard split length, I was going to do that if I ever get around to it
