Wow. Any of the big companies, that make thousands of pieces of gear (Cat, JD, etc) would be just fine with your design, choice of components, and welding of this entire unit. Really clever stuff... very well done Kevin!

Thanks all. Look forward to adding here when I can. Furnace house is packed to the ceiling and the other indoor storage we have are full as well so not a lot of cutting this Winter.

Dad is working on using this one up as we have to do some repair to it. He uses about 8 cord a year so it will take a while to get all that out. When it was completely full, the stack measured 80' X 18' X 7' so that is about 78 cord. This is just one of the barns we have loaded but the most in one place.

Dad burns 8 or so in a home made stove that uses 2 old boiler tanks.

No fans or water, just radiant heat in the basement with a register in the floor. Works awesome and has for 40 years since he first welded it up.

I have a OWB that I put in close to 10 years ago.

I built it in a 20'x20' building. First year I used 28 cord as I had moved into the home farm and the house had ZERO insulation with bad windows on top of that. Spent the next year working my butte off and completely redid it all. Now I use around 13 cord. Heat a 36' x 50' 2 story house with full basement, attached 36' x 50' garage with radiant floor heat and my domestic water.

We had over 180 cord at one time, all under roof.

One barn burnt to the ground(renters tossing a cigarette) and now 2 have wind damage and need repairs so were using out of them first. We don't sell but help some of the older folks when they get in a bind.

Dad raised me right as it was 1974 when he started heating with just wood. I have all my life. When we started out we were year to year as none of our own land and just did tree takedowns or dead falls. The worst one was cutting up an apple orchard and cleaning all the brush up.... on the 1/4. We got a 1/4, Dad's friend got a 1/4 and land owner got 1/2! That's desperation. ;)

That's probably the reason we tend to work ahead now. Never again.

I like your Dad's double barrel stove. Can't argue with 40 years! You and your Dad are hard workers! 180 cords, covered. Not a com operation... wow. You would have been just fine living in the 1800s... dawn til dusk...
