Here are my first splittings ever. I have a 20 ton Echo Bearcat, that seems to split everything that I've thrown at it. I split some pretty nasty stuff just to see what it would do, and it split all of it, although it did have some trouble with the really burly stuff. Pic #1 is of the Bear Cat-#2 is Ash--#3 is Maple and Hickory

For some reasons my photos are coming across Perfect :D

Yes and No:eek:! They're mine as long as I'm still in the USCG:p….. It's my metal shop where we make duct, repair AC/R crap, where I do most of the welding and fab stuff. It's a nice shop and stuff in there is very old but still works well. We have an old pneumatic sheer dated 1946 and I wouldn't trade it for a brand new one:cool:. Anyway, as long as I have keys, it's mine:D

Here are some better pics of before and after. I couldn't get them on the iPad these are off the computer. It took most of a summer to do all this work on the weekends. The old subaru is now on my friends go-cart and the new Predator is on this splitter. IMAG0035.jpg IMAG0036.jpg IMAG0037.jpg IMAG0103.jpg IMAG0105.jpg IMAG0106.jpg IMAG0132.jpg

Thanks Chvymn, log lift was an afterthought and had to go with a boom for log lift instead of the traditional hydraulic tray because of axle placement.
Never used the other kind of lift but I think I would still like the boom better.

Tiewire, what type of wedge are you using? A " T " ?

Your setup for huge rounds where the bottom is split off then you just lower the boom/davit arm with log tongs is
    real handy.

Will you be adding an out feed table? Even if you have to have it free standing, it sure will make your life easier!

Wedge is just a single wedge and the table is a must!

Welcome to FHC. Nice unit Kevin. I really like the outriggers and that it is so portable...

I built it a few years ago as it suits or needs on how we normally split. Working things out I wanted in my head and finally went ahead and built it. VERY happy with it to say the least. Thanks for the kind words.

Here's a link to the entire build.
