That's really nice, I would love one of those splitters but don't have a front end loader. The big rounds were what scared me on getting one. But they def make splitting way faster.

Have used Super Splitters at charity cuts, great machines!

However, my hydraulic splitter with the 4 way, log lift, & a 8.8 sec cycle time meets my needs well. Of course having the log bucking trailer & tractor with loader doesn't hurt.

    - Set logs on bucking stand.
    - Cut the logs while being able to stand up straight.
    - Cut rounds fall towards the splitter side.
    - Load the log lift. Larger rounds are just rolled onto the lift. Again no picking rounds off the ground & the wood stays clean. (Well most of the rounds stay on the trailer, however occasionally one will find it's way out. Ask Sunfish.)
    - Split away.
    - Splits stay off the ground thanks to out feed tables.
    - Toss into trailer, truck, pallets/crates, or use elevator.

I love being able to process the logs with minimal bending over & keeping the wood clean!

This setup has been used at several charity cuts. We have 1-2 saw operators, 3-4 splitters, the loader operator, & of course, the food! When logs & loader are available, it works great!

It has been updated since these photos. There are fences on both ends & storage boxes for the saw operators to stand on.

The following video was taken by Sam-Tip at the Waukee Charity Cut this past spring:

My homemade refurbished heavily modified splitter lol. It has a HF Predator motor, 2 stage 16 gpm pump, 28" ram, HF Badlands winch with 29' of cord to attach to the truck while running so I can power the lift and a lot more to come in my ongoing build....

That might be the ticket there I was looking for a non hydraulic way to power a log lift.

Thanks for warm welcome. I hear you on the bending. When I buck up the logs, I put the backhoe on. It has a thumb and I just lift the log to a comfortable height to cut. It also speeds up the operation and I don't worry about the chain hitting the ground, which I've been known to do a time or two.....

Osage orange/hedge = Great BTUs but like all types of "yellow wood" likes to pop & shower sparks. I love it for the shop but the wife doesn't want it inside. That works for me! :fire:

Sometimes I have to reposition the wood to get it split but for a 7 ton it does a heck of a job

2003. I traded a couple hours of tree work for it. It was only used 1 season and the fellow decided burning wood was too much work.
