Just this past week I called a supplier/installer of solar energy for my residence. Currently, there are no incentives for homeowners (me) to go solar here in Michigan.....only the tax credit is available. Just over the phone with a quick ball park estimate based on my usage and square footage- $30,000. This is a none battery system.
Hard to say without knowing the specifics of the situation but maybe you got the “I don’t want to do it” price. Personally, I would be dubious of an over the phone price. I know PV installers around here are booking 10-12 months out. So if your serious about it I’d encourage you to look into it some more…but let’s not mess up the motorcycle thread. Several other members have contacted me about their PV solar projects, feel free to do so all I can do is give my opinion.
My state doesn't have any incentives this year either (most would be $1,000 - if they funded that reserve anyway). To me, that price is pretty good. Of course I don't know your usage or situation, but I'm sitting at about 5,550 kwh/year - actually less but that is what we are aiming for. I will pay about 4/5 of your quoted price (before fed credit) for a non-battery system. However, they could be quoting you with 1 transformer and I'll have a transformer for each of the 20 panels (no, I don't have an ideal situation - if it was ideal I'd only need 14 panels or so). I would not do an over the phone price myself.
I am just kicking tires at this point in time. I wanted a "ballpark" price and got one. We spoke again a couple of days ago for a more accurate estimate that I have to get some info together for. More reasons involved, but we'll keep this thread dedicated to bikes.
Out with the guys yesterday. Left at 5:45a and got home at 8:30p. One of em uses a tracking app. Relive 'Motorcycle adventures' He got stung in the eyelid during lunch.
There were some serious lean angles going on. ‘‘Twas fun! Those chicken strips will not get smaller unless the bike is put on a closed track.
After 13 years and 63,499 trouble free miles, I sold the best long distance bike I've ever owned. My 2009 Kawasaki Zx-14 never let me down. Smoother than my FJR, more comfortable and better on gas than either of the two Goldwings I've owned. I'll miss it for sure but there comes a time when you've got to let go. I hadn't put more that 1000 miles on it in the last 3 years... it was time.
I went for a ride today. I had been shopping on line this morning and I found a Fleet Farm store that had a close-out item in stock. I thought why not take the bike out for a ride... perfect weather and a great deal on what I was looking for... I was on the road at noon and home after 304 miles in exactly 7 hours. There were 2 stops for fuel and a quick snack along the way. I also learned a valuable lesson, never fully trust the on-line inventory of stores that are 150 miles away without calling to be sure they have what you're looking for. I came away empty handed... Oh well, it was a great day for a ride... Memorial Park in Tomahawk, WI. Firewood in need of some processing, outside of Glidden, WI. Some interesting large fiberglass or resin lawn art in Merrill, WI. Here's a sign you don't often think of in Wisconsin.
I saw you sold the zx14. Nice to see that not all just "give up" and get a goldwing. . How long have you had the 900? That bike is nearly a dead ringer for my old 78 kz1000.
I picked up the Z900RS Cafe in the Spring of 2021. It's a 2019 but the previous owner only put 154 miles on it while he owned it. I've already done the Goldwing thing... twice... it's not for me. The Zx-14 was far more comfortable than either of them. I'm hoping that Sargent Seats makes a replacement soon. The OEM seat isn't terrible, but it could be better. The bike sure gets a lot of comments while fueling up. I get a ton of questions like, how old is it?... I had one like it... Is it an old bike you restored? Erik
Kawi sure did their homework when they sculpted that new one. It's got exactly the same lines as the old kz/ z1.
