First bike was a '74(?) YZ100...then a '77-78(?) MX100...beat the crap outta that thing...first engine I ever blew up, and then rebuilt too! Those old Suzy pics make me think of my cousins bike...mid/late 70's DT250 IIRC...in red/pink () he bought it from his BIL, who rode it to work and parked it in the same spot everyday (facing east) for years, the left side of the bike was red...the right side had faded to pink! It was in perfect condition otherwise!
Went for a short ride, 50° this morning. Passed a Harley Street Glide and a Ducati Multistrada....... Shoveled snow and ice yesterday so I could get out today.
It was this ride that made me change my mind about doing any serious woods riding with my XR200, and instead build a scrambler out of it. Dual shocks mixed with railroad tracks, miles of whoops, hopping logs, crossing rivers.... yeah maybe back in 1980 this was a serious little trail bike but it was all I could do to keep from bashing a hole in the crankcase LOL. This was in June 2019 and my buddy and I went for a covert 30 mile round trip ride from late afternoon until about 9:30 that night. Needless to say, his 300cc 2 stroke Beta was far better suited for the terrain. My poor bike We had a blast though.
First motorcycle ride since November! WOO WOO Had to stay on the roads to much snow to have fun on my normal field routes Did manage to get 24 miles in. Fricking Honda engine exploded to life at the slightest touch of the go button
I hear on that brother. I remember reading somewhere in the year 2017 Honda celebrated the building of their 100 millionith (is that a word?) Super Cub in Japan. Hard to fathom that number.
I got to tour the Marysville Ohio Honda plant (where they used to make the Goldwing's, and some of the ATV's) back in the early 90's, it was an impressive operation! Everybody that worked there wore the same white clothes, from the plant manager down to the janitor. They make them do a whole exercise regimen before work each day...everyone participates in that too.
I’m jealous! I studied Honda in college and wrote many papers about them. I have probably owned one of everything they have ever made in power equipment. fabulous read:
Their tech training center in Troy Ohio was even more impressive to me, quite the program...and they had some NOS bikes and ATVs there that were no longer made, unridden, run in the shop only...and a few of them now highly collectible...heck, some of them were even back then! Even had an ultra rare NR750! I just walked around drooling for the first week of the program!
I had a Honda Shadow A.C.E. that had Made In USA proudly etched onto the rear of the seat. I think my VTX 18 was born in Marysville also.
A good friend had one of these. He let me take her out a few afternoons yet he never asked to ride my 1984 Gold Wing Aspencade I wonder why? Although I must say the Gold Wing handled much better than his Super but wasn’t nearly as much fun
Dug up an oldie. I put 137,000 miles on this Honda. Just gas, oil, tires, and battery’s. My son would tremble with excitement/anticipation before our cherished rides. That kid is 38 years old tomorrow. And a life long rider.
